Yesterday my 3 year old son was a bit unwell with a slight fever and just very lehargic and clingy. He had a very bad night and kept waking up screaming with a really high temperature. This morning he is refusing to eat which is very unusual for my little boy and keeps telling me he feels s*. I know it is probably just the fever which is making him feel like this but I am starting to worry a bit as he keeeps crying and holding his tummy. My husband has taken my daughter out so I am alone with my son. I am so scared he will v*. We are both tired after a bad night so that is probably not helping. Surely it would have happened by now if it was going to happen?

Hey, awww im sorry about your son and im sorry your feling like this to. Is it hot where you are in the uk at the moment?? last night my mum complained about feeling ill, she said it was the heat and she had a headache, felt hot, had a temp and she started to feel n*, she has a bit of fear towards v*, so she took a stemetil and fell asleep and woke up fine, so maybe its the heat?? or if it is something else try not to worry, if it was yesterday he started to get it, it probaly would have happend i thought by now, try and stay calm, fevers can make you feel a bit n*, last time i had one i felt n*, but never v*, i ate things like soups and stuff to help and if i got to hot, had a lemonade ice lolly, i find they help with my n* to. I hope he feels better, stay strong.

How is he now Sally? Sorry for not reading your post earlier. It's difficult with kids to know what's causing the problem but it doesn't sound like a sv. My daughter always throws up when she's feverish so getting his temperature down would be good as it will certainly make him feel unwell. Kids also feel most pain in their tummies, my son used to have throat infections and complain of stomach ache, same with a chest infection, so don't think that his pain definitely means there's something wrong with his stomach. Anyway, I'm late posting this so I hope there's been some improvement.

My son is in bed now and feeling very sorry for himself. He has not v*d, but has not been very well at all. He is covered in a rash which the doctor says is a virus. He has complained of a sore throat all day and not eaten at all though he has drunk plenty. He is now complaining of a headache and saying the back of his neck hurts which is worrying me a bit. His temperature has come down though so hopefully he is getting better now. No doubt I will lay awake worrying about him all night but hopefully he will feel better tomorrow. Thankyou everyone.

My son got up this morning no better. The rash was more red and agressive and he still had a very high temperature. He kept crying and just did not know what to do with himself, so I rang the sunday Doctors on call number. They tried to tell me it was a virus like the doctor yesterday said, but they agreed to see him anyway. They have said it was tonsilitis and the rash was a secondary streptococcus(sp) infection. The doctor said it was a good job I took my son back today as he would have got a lot worse. He has started on his penecillin and hopefully he will feel better soon. I was just getting him ready for a nap when he started gagging and then it happened. It was just a little bit of v*and I managed to stay quite calm for a change. I am just relieved that I know what is wrong with my little boy now. Thankyou everyone for your kind words.

I hate the way every kiddy illness seems to be passed off as just a "virus"! Well done for coping when your son v*d - I hope he feels better very soon.

It's a relief to get a diagnosis and the necessary medication, and as much as the v* isn't nice, at least you know it's not going to spread through the family. Well done on coping so well, I'm sure you're just happy that the little one is on the mend. Keep us informed how things progress.

p.s. Isn't it annoying how some doctors believe they can diagnose over the phone?

Poor little guy! The good news is, is that he should be feeling better after about 24 hours of starting the Penicillin. What a relief to know what's wrong with him, so now he's on the mend.

So sorry to hear about your son...my son just went throught the exact same thing and we are on day 6 of it. Since it sounds so similar, don't be alarmed if he develops croup like my son did. He sounds like a seal!

Hopefully you all begin feeling better! If it helps, my daughter did not get it. She had one day of occasional d* but played and ate through it all. I think the virus hit them in different ways.

Thankyou everyone. My son got up much better this morning and asked for his breakfast. He did not eat much of it, but at least he wanted it. By lunchtime he was very tired and would not eat any lunch. He fell asleep for nearly 3 hours and woke up very hot and miserable. He has been quiet all afternoon and is almost asleep on the sofa now. Hopefully all the sleep will make him feel better. His rash has almost gone and he is definately better than he was yesterday.

I am on my own with the children for the next 3 days. My hubby had to fly to Holland for a course. It is typical that he has to go away when my son is ill, but at least it is only for a few days. It has been lovely having my hubby home. We have had some quality family time and still have an excitingmonth and a halfto look forward to.

The sleeping may do him good, it will give his body time to refresh and heal. My thoughts are with him.

Glad he's better Curly, though it might take a few days until he feels completely well. Keep checking his temperature, if it's up then he's going to lose his appetite and feel lethargic so a dose of Calpol would help. why am I telling you this? You're a mother....you know...lol!!
