Sorry in advance.

My dog v* this morning and I just sort of blew it off because sometimes dogs do v* usually from eating something bad.

But about 15 minutes ago she started acting like she was going to again, so I picked her up to run out the back door and she v*. On me and the floor.

Ok....I called the vet, who says just to keep an eye on her, but here is my real question for y'all:

    1)Can dogs get sv's?

2)If yes, can they transmit them to humans????? I only ask because she was licking my face this morning beofre she got sick the first time, and I was holding her when she got sick the second time.

    Thank you!

To my knowledge...you can't catch anything from a dog. I also have a dog & she tends to eat sticks & things when we are outside. Maybe that is why your dog is sick today.

    P.S. Hope she feels better.

Thank you for the quick answer!!!

My dog, Petunia, is a Pekingese who is convinced that she is a Labrador. She was crunching something in the backyard yesterday that I couldn't get out of her mouth before she swallowed, so it probably was something bad.

AWWW--poor thing! how is she feeling now?

I agree with MOOSE--I don't think you can catch anything from your dog. I have 2 chihuahua''s, and one of them v* a couple days ago, I don't know why. Later that night, I let her lick some of my popsicle, then I ate it. I wasn''t even worried about it--weird, huh?

I think you'll be fine, and I hope petunia is OK also!

Yeah, she probably ate something bad. I do not think you can catch a sv from a dog. I don't think they get sv*s the way people do.

I am positive you cannot catch a sv* from your dog. I am one of the biggest dog lovers in the world, and I used to worry about that, but it just isn't so. How's your dog feeling now?

Thanks for the replies. Petunia is doing fine. She ate her dinner and my bf said she was fine all night while I was at work.

A vet once told me that you cannot catch anything from a dog...I thought I was the only one who would think of such a thing!

HI, Yes, dogs can get stomach bugs. My shepard had one last year. The vet just said to not feed him for 24 hrs and to give small amounts of waters as he could tolerate. The next day I started him on boiled chicken and rice which he ate for the next two days. You can boillean hamburger too and mix it in with the rice. He had bouts with d* too and the dr. prescribed 1 pepto tablet every 12 hrs. Good luck, I hope he is better soon.

I asked the vet once if people and cats could get things from each other, and he said no. I think this applies to dogs as well. He said the only way you could get something would be for instance if the animal had worms and somehow (yuck) you ate one of the worms, then you could get worms. But that's the only way you can get anything from your pet.
