I am having a endoscopy done and am a little scared. Will it make me sick? What should I expect?

Hey, no it should not make you sick at all....you have to drink all that liquid to clean out your digestive tract first...and you can't eat for like 24 hrs too, that's the hardest part..for me anyway, then before the actual procedure, they will give you meds to knock you out, and don't know a thing that has happened...then you wake up and just feel alittle groggy...and tha'ts it...no problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just like Kate said it shouldn't make you sick. I had one a couple of years back and although it was uncomfortable, it was over very quickly. You will be offered a sedative and if you have someone to take you home afterwards you might want to have that. I went without the sedative as I had to drive home! But it was fine really and I have a very sensitive stomach. M x

I've had one. The only thing I remember is the nurse saying that it was over and I could sit up. Then I had a pleasant residual buzz from the Valium.

I had one - no problems but a sore throat afterwards! They knocked me out for it and all I remember is being tired and eating popsicles and soup. Good luck!

Laura, i totally just described my colonoscopy to you instead of an endoscopy....SORRY!!! However, i have had both done....the endoscopy was alittle more scarey for me, but only b/c i'd never had one, and i was scared of it....they knocked me totally out, and yeah, i had a sore throat from it, but that was it...i was so out of it when they were done....i didn't remember a thing...you will be fine.
