If she is going to get ill it will probably be right after and you most likely will not be in the recovery room with her. I'm sure she is going to be fine. My friend had it done and wasn't sick at all. They will give her something to help prevent it. Try not to worry.

I agree...they give you so much anti-v meds now for surgery, i think she'll be fine and you won't have to witness anything. She will be groggy of course, but i don't think she'll be sick. I had gall bladder, and thyroid surgery, and wasn't sick afterwards at all...so she should do fine.

I understand the surgery you are talking about and I'm surprised they are allowing you in the room. When my friend had it done, they wouldn't even let her husband in with her and she wasn't totally knocked out. I think they gave her something to numb the area and something to put her in a relaxed state, but the only ones allowed in the hospital room were the doctor and a few nurses. Your sister is having her cervix scraped to remove cancer cells right? That should be done in a hospital, not a doctor's office. I'm not sure where she is having it done but I don't think if it was at a hospital you would be allowed in the room with her. My friend's hubby didn't see her until she was out of the recovery room.

I had this surgery several years ago. They will give her somethingto calm her nerves. It won't make her sick - just drowsy and relaxed. The procedure itself is not too bad and there is nothing associated with it that will make her v*. The numbing is generalized to her cervix; nothing like anesthesia. She'll be fine. Please try not to worry.
