Man I dont know who came up with the idea of milk and cereal in the morning, but it was a stupid idea! Lol. Ugh I just ate some and man I feel sick. Sometimes it does that to me, course I guess I thought this morning would be different for some reason. It doesn't always bug me, but sometimes it does, uggh. Now my guts really dont feel good. I get this too and it's so annoying! I used to eat cereal and loads of milk every night but now just one bowl a week gives me a really bad stomach. It's so annoying because i love milk and cereal! Does anyone know if you can just randomly develop lactose intolerance?! Hoep you feel better soon, it usually wears off after a while for me xx

Hey Katy,
Ugh yeah I used to be able to as well, but anymore I may as well not bother. What I dont get is I can eat cheese and other dairy products and be fine, but sometimes milk nad cereal just really makes me feel awful for awhile. My guts still feel real yuck, and are cramping up.

I wouldnt be surprised if it can just develop.
Man this sucks. Part of me is worried I caught something because a co worker yesterday said she had been sick v*ing for the past couple days, and finally was ok enough to work yesterday. Great huh? Its probably just the stinkin milk tho. It was whole milk too.

you can develop lactose intollerance at any age, especially if you
notice it with milk...butter, and cheese is slightly process so it
doesnt have as much lactose as pure milk. plus lactose in milk is a
sugar...and sugar cereal with sugary milk can make anyone feel sick.
its funny because my bf loves milk drinks whole milk by the gallon but
he wont eat anything sweet, no candy, cookies anything, he does like
sweets, and i tell him well there is TONS of sugar in that milk, and he
laughs at me, but he knows it true. its just like how people are
addicted to sugary products, you body can be the same way with milk
sugars. i hope you feel better...i would say get tested for lactose
intollerance...it helps to know or not

I think I am feeling better, so thats good.
How do they test you for lactose intolerance?
That makes sense that pure milk would affect you more. Its usually milk that does me in, but sometimes I can eat it with cereal and feel fine after. I guess it just depends.

I was researching lactose intolerance and found out that everyone is lactose intolerant, just to different degrees. We are not supposed to drink milk after the age of two because our bodies can no longer digest the lactose properly. think about it this way...if you were a dog, would you drink milk from a cat? you could but you are not supposed to and its just like humans drinking milk from a cow. If we drank human milk instead of cow milk our entire lives we would not have any lactose intolerance at all. isnt that weird.

Wow that's weird! But it makes sense, too! I think I drink WAY too much milk... I'm addicted to hot chocolate and milo and stuff so I probably have a fair bit. It's like with meat- our bodies aren't supposed to have it and can't digest it- so the only way we can is for it to rot inour stomaches... ewww. I hate the thought of my body not being able to digest something!

Hah for a second i thought this was aimed directly at me because i was reading the title too fast and thought it said "spilled milk"

I am slightly lactose intolerant myself, but only to pure milk. So, i dont have it in glasses or on cereal, i've taken to having chocolate milk instead (and not a lot) because for some reason that seems to dilute it. i hope that you are feeling better!

mary contrary- i've heard the same things.I am a new mommy and I nurse my baby. I've heard there are many differences between milk of different species, like humans and cows. I think, but I'm not certain, that human milk has special digestive enzymes and extra lactase to make the lactose of human milk easier to digest. The weird thing is that if I drink regular milk, it upsets my baby. So I can't drink regular cow's milk or ice cream until after my baby weans.I miss my Dairy Queen blizzards but it's all worth it if my baby is healthier.

Eewww....people actually drink whole milk? Here in Canada, isn't that homogenized "Homo" milk? Ewww, that's almost like drinking cream. LOL- but the thought of even regular milk creeps me out, as everytime I see someone drink a glass of it I have a mental image of them suckling on a cow's teat.

You may want to try soy milk- if I ever have the urge to eat cereal, I use either that (and it comes in flavours- vanilla is my favourite), or orange juice. One of my cousins and my grandfather are both lactose intolerant, and have done this since forever. You would think that cereal would be gross with orange juice, but it really isn't that bad. Gives it a 'lil zing.
