I know a lot of people with this fear avoid take outs and restaurants during the winter season. I am one of those people. We have donut places here and they do wear gloves whenever they get people who order a dozen donuts, otherwise they use tissue paper to pick them up. Yesterday I went in and got coffee the the chocolate frosted donuts looked so good. The woman had just made an egg thing and still had her gloves on when she made my coffee and got my donuts. I got 2 frosted donuts one was sitting on top of a full tray of donuts maybe left over from a previous tray. Even though she wore gloves I am wondering who picked up that 1 donut and stuck it there? I finally ate it last night and now I'm worried who placed it on the full tray of donuts. Were they well, were they sick, did they have gloves on, did they use tissue paper to pick it up so now I'm worried. Should I be? I hate living like this.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, but it's easy for me to tell you that. I worry about a lot of things I shouldn't too....I hate living like this too. I am sure you will be ok. If you keep thinking about it you will get all worked up and not feel good. I can relate though! Good luck and let us know how you are doin! *HUGS*

21 days not smoking! Thats wonderful. I quit 23 years ago. I wish my husband would quit. We saw my best friend die from cigarettes, we saw her right after she received her last rights, she dies 5 hours later. We watched her go for months of hardcore chemo and radiation. You would think this would be a wake up call for my husband, but it wasn't. keep it going!!! You CAN do it and will feel SO much better.

Thank you! I'm sorry to hear about your friend! That's awful!!

Yeah it's been a hard 21 days but I'm doing it!!! Sometimes I just want to give in, but I don't! My parents are so happy that I'm quitting. My grandma smoked for 50 years and she just died ofa heart attack a little over a month ago....probably had a lot to do with smoking!

I guess that was my reason for doing it!! Thanks for the support! Are you doing better?

Good job for both of you for quitting smoking!! It's one of the hardest things to do out there and you did it!! You should both be so proud of yourselves!

Even though I'm emetophobic, I've never been one to worry about food handling at restaurants or anything---well, only once. But that as at a McDonalds and I saw the chick getting my fries sneeze on them and try to give it to me. As if!!!
I've never (knock on wood!) felt ill after eating at cafes or restaurants--I love eating out too much to do that. Plus I fly alot and eat out 3-4 days a week in different parts of the country and it doesn't even enter my mind. I really don't think you should be worried too much about the donuts--I think all places these days have policies regarding safe food handling and require their employees not only to wear gloves but to wash their hands as well.
I'm sure you will be fine!
    Hope this helps!

I am also afraid of eating out and takeout. When I do have something, I usually get something cooked, like pizza. If something is piping hot, no virus could live on it! I'm pretty leary about salads and sandwiches, though. You never know for sure if the handlers are always wearing gloves or not.

I worry about take out food all the time. I rarely eat it, and when I do, I worry all day.

As for the donut, I'm pretty sure they ALWAYS use tissue paper to move them around.

Christianne, that is incredibly gross that the girl sneezed all over the fries!!! OMG!!!
