My husband once ate mayo that was out of date by almost3 months. When I realised the date I started to panic, but my husband just laughed. He was absolutely fine, but I was awake all night worrying about him. I am sure you will be fine. I think you would have tasted it if it had been bad.

    Hi there!

I agree with curly wurly--I'm sure it would have tasted funny to you if it had been bad. Plus, I think the expiration dates on there are just "sell by" or "best if used by" dates so I'm sure you will be fine.
    Hope this helps!!

Mayo has a lot of vinigar in it I think. Stuff like Salad dressings and mayo are usually good for like a month after the experation date because its so acidic!

There have been many times that I realized that something was expired...only after I consumed it. Trust me, The FDArequires a quite large buffer period on the expiration dates of consumables.

Here's a "for instance": Last night, I had a headache and took some aspirin. Probably the wrong thing to do with my sensitive stomach. I had such bad heartburn from it about an hour later, I went in the medicine cabinet to gulp down some Mylanta. I noticed today that the exp. date was January.

Settle down and relax. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Food usually is ok a little beyond the expiration date, as for mayo, half empty or not at 3 mos it is in the rubbish.

I printed this thing out a while back and put it on my fridge, It has expiration periods of things. Mayo is on there and it says 2-3 mos after sell by date. That after that the taste/color may be effected but is still over all safe to consume. If it smelled and tasted OK than it is. It's only about 2 wks past the date so ... besides it's just a guess on the manufacters part. Hope this helps!
