I usually try to avoid a certain dorm on campus because of its reputation for having a lot of drunks and partying. To get there you have to cross a wooden bridge or go all the way around the science building to use the other bridge, a ravine runs through campus. I've been hanging out there more since a few good friends, and my awesome boyfriend Chris, live there. Just being in his room was a triumph, he's on the second floor and lives right next door to the bathroom x_x I was pretty proud of just being able to go there and hang out.
This morning after breakfast my friends, Chris, and I were heading to his room to waste time before I had to go to work. We got to the start of the bridge and there was a huge white splat of it on the pathway, directly in front of where I had been walking along. I instantly felt panicy but I knew that I needed to try and control myself better now that I'm trying to get better, so I stepped way over it and walked quickly over to hold onto the railing of the bridge. I normally would have been either flat out running away or bursting into tears and then running away, but I just stood there for a minute while the others walked up, clinging to the side and trying to breath. I started to kind of hyperventilate and ended up really dizzy, but I was able to keep from crying or passing out.
I felt sort of bad that I just stepped forward and moved away from the group so quickly and my breathing took a while to stabalize, but I still think that I did really well considering my past run ins. I don't think I could have done as well without Chris there. He was the only one in the group that knew about my emet so he moved right in to see if I was ok and make sure we kept moving away from it. He also walked me to work, taking the long way around the science building without me having to ask ^_^
Even though I'm still a little dizzy and feeling vaguely ill, I'm really proud of not having a total melt down. And it shows just how great my friends are that they didn't tease about it or anything. Thanks for reading!
