My 3 year old son has just woken up crying. I went upstairs to see what was wrong and he told me he was cold. I got him a blanket to put over his duvet and then I noticed a horrible smell. I turned the light on and realised he had v*d on his pillow. It was hardly any, probably just a mouthful. I got him up and changed his pillow. He said he felt fine and was actually laughing whilst I was washing his face. He has had a cold for over a week now, but has not really been unwell with it, just very congested. I am trying to convince myself that this is what made him v*. I am sure he would have been a lot more s* if it was a sv. If my husband was home I would probably not worry too much, but since I am here on my own I am now having horrible thoughts that it may be a sv. I actually managed to stay calm whilst sorting out my son. I was sure it was just his cold, but now I have had time to think about it I am starting to panic. I am scared to go to bed now in case my son really is ill. Surely it was just his cold that made him v*?

I truly believe it was just a cold...Especially since he is only 3 years old...Little ones can't handle coughs or phlegm(sp?) of any kind and since he was laying down, he probably was coughing and that made him v* just a little...Don't worry and let your mind go to those places...TO ME, it sounds just like a cold and I wouldn't give the sv* scenario a second thought.

Hope he feels better soon and I hope you can get some sleep)

little kids can v* just from coughing. Once when I was like 6, I remember I had a really bad cold. And my mom told me if I needed to v* to just do it in the paper bag next to me. Well, right after she left, I had a coughing fit, and I all of a sudden just v* onto my pillow! And I totally wasn't expecting it, I didn't even know I'd v*d until I looked at the pillow it's scary.... how well my memory is of v*.... of course, after my mom heard the coughing, she came back in and was all over me, and that actually made me feel bad. Probably why I'm emetophobic now... I was always scolded as a child whenever I v*. I was always told it was a horrible thing to do, even though I'm pretty sure my freakin mom v*s more than ne1 I know

Thank you for your replies Kasey and Sophia. My son is fast asleep now and actually does not sound quite as congested as he did earlier, so I am almost convinced it is just his cold, though part of me is still worrying just in case. It has happened before with both of my children when they have a cold, so i should be used to it, but I still worry. If my husband was home he would reassure me, but since he is miles away on a big ship in the middle of the ocean I suppose I have to just try and relax. Thankyou once again for your support.

Sophia,I am sorry you were made to feel so bad when you v* as a young child. No matter how much it scares me, I would never tell my children off for v*ing. Thats when my poor little ones need me more than ever.

Sorry to hear this happened, I know how alarming it can be, especially as you don't know what has caused it, or if it's going to continue. I hope he's better now and that the night went smoothly. My daughter always v* when she has a cold, it's the mucous that she can't tolerate. I'm sure this is what has happened to your son.

Take care, and well done on staying calm

I completely agree with everybody here, it sounds like it was his cold. My oldest son always develops a cough with his colds, and he usually always v*s. It happened last week - he went to bed choked up & coughing, and I left him with a basin. Within five minutes, he'd v*d on himself, the bed and the floor. And THEN he filled the basin!! But he felt better straight away and wasn't congested any more - I think it's natures way of getting rid of the gunge. It was scary but I actually coped quite well, maybe because I knew it wasn't an sv*.

Try sitting in the bathroom with a hot shower running - steam is great for clearing their tubes! I hope your son feels better soon.

Yep! I was in school one day and one of the students in the class had a bad cold and was coughing ALL day. He got sick @ the end of the day and I knew it was only from all the coughing.

Thankyou for your repliesSuze, Dreamer and Breezie. I am sure it was just his cold that made him v*, as he woke up absolutely fine this morning and asked for his breakfast straight away. His cold actually seemed much better today so i think it helped him. He has been full of energy and mischief all day so i am sure it was not anything else which made him ill I feel a bit silly for worrying so much now. It is just difficult when these things happen at night. It always seems much worse for some reason. Well thankyou once again everyone for your reassurance.
