I am at my office and a woman comes in with her child (who looks extremely ill). The kid started coughing and then..yup started v*. I told the woman to get her to the bathroom because she was about to let her just puke on the carpet in my office!!! So, after she left I went OCD and lysoled my entire office of course and then went to check the bathroom and there was v* all over the floor!! The mother didn't even clean it up!!! Nobody else here at the office would clean it up, so yours truely had to go in there with mop and bleach and clean it. I handled it well, but I am feeling pissed off now of going through the "anxiety and worry" that comes along after "exposure." My husband and I are leaving for Phoenix on Friday and now I am going to be worrying about v*!!!! Again, I took another step back in my emet!! Somebody help!!

What an inconsiderate mother (f***er). I can't believe she would just let her kid vomit on your floor and just leave it. Even if it was in the bathroom- someone has to clean it up.

Gosh- last night my daughter and I were sitting at the voting polls and she got a funny look on her face and said her ears felt funny. I wondered if her salivary glands were kicking in, because you can kinda feel that in your ears. So, I scanned the room for the trash immediately just incase. (luckily her ears were just popping, i think)

Why wouldn't people be more considerate about things like this? Are we a strange breed? Do others seriously not care or think it's a big deal. I'm perplexed.

at home! Well I hope the kid if okay, and I hope your okay too...Did

an take a shower and dont put your hands near your face. I think you
will be okay. I hope your oaky...just remember how it is transfered,
and keep in mind you need to eat to keep up strength and a strong
immune system, also take some zinc...with food, or rather eat food

Oh, I forgot to say that you should be fine. I don't think you would have inhaled anything while you were cleaning it, and you only touched the mop. Plus it had bleach on it. I hope you can enjoy yourself in Phoenix without worrying too much.

I'm so sorry you had to clean that up but well done for doing so. I couldn't have. That's so completely vile to just not ask for stuff to clean it up with. Once I was out with my lil cousin and he had an "accident" and peed himself. Well some got on the floor so after cleaning up my cousin my aunt went and got someone and asked for cleaning stuff tyo clean it up with. That's how it should be!

As much as a dislike v*, when I have kids some day, I realize that I am going to have to do it. Especially in public, I will not put anyone else through it and just leave it. I think that it is not only disgusting, but also extremely inconsiderate of other people.

I do look at today as another positive exposure experience though. I am proud of myself for cleaning it up, seeing it, and seeing it happen and not freaking out during it. I do feel anxiety now about possibly catching it, but I am trying to work through the anxiety. A year ago before joining this site, I would have never been able to do that. THank you everyone for the support that you have given me over the past year. You guys don't understand how much better I have gotten and its because of the support and guidance from everyone here. I looked a lot at Sage's exposure therapy stuff and have made myself (although very scarey) face v* when it has happened. I have not ran away from it. I still do the crazy cleaning stuff and am petrefied of doing it myself, but I can see that I have made improvements.

I am so sorry hon...I think you will be ok! I was in the hair salon one time and a little girl kept telling her mom she was going to V* and she just ignored her..She ended up V* all over the place...Thank the Lord, I was ok, and so was the hair stylist who cleaned it, so I think you'll be ok!

Surely even a non-emet would have been disgusted by that! I can't believe that woman let her child v* and just left it for someone else to clean!!! It's not just an emet issue, it's plain bad manners!

Well done for clearing it up - I'd have run a mile. I have enough difficulty cleaning my own kids' v*. If you weren't there when it actually happened, I'm sure you haven't been exposed. And I'd consider what you did an amazing achievement!

You rock, Silver! Good job for handling that so well! As for that mother, shame on her! Who drags a sick kid out and about? Even if the kid was fine when they left, it is horribly inconsiderate of her to leave the kids v* for someone else to clean. As a mom, I would never do that. I think it is very unlikely that you will catch anything from just mopping up, and it sounds like you were generous with the bleach. Try to relax and take care of yourself, maybe treat yourself in some way as a reward for your accomplishment.

UGH, ths also happened to me once: I wass working in an office, in which it was just myself and the owner. Well, this lady came in with her 6-yr-old daughter, who was telling me, "I feel throw-up sick". Oh geez!!!!!! THEN, her mom decides to go to the bathroom and leaves the little girl in the room with me! I kept talking to the girl about school and stuff, to hopefully get her mind off being sick, but she repeated that statement a couple more times. Her mom came back and said that the girl had been sick with a cold. Wwell, the girl got up from her chair and got some water from the cooler, didn't drink it all, and poured it out in the trash. I knew that she was gonna v* soon after. She sat back down, and suddenly v* into the empty cup! UGH! Her mom took her outside to v*. Then she came in and threw the cup that had v* in it into the trash!! She poured it out outside!! I told my boss of my phobia, and bless his heart, he went to the store and got some cleaning supplies and cleaned the office really good. But, of course, after he left for the day, I had to re-clean the office to emet-sterillity!

I am so sorry you had to experience that!!! You did handle it extremely well though!!!

Man that's just WRONG! I remember this one time when I was like 14 I was working in a resturant, I was a bus girl so I had to clear tables. Well I was back in the kitchen and one of the waitresses comes back and says, "SOmeone Vomited on table 9" and I was like "Oh god" cause that table was in my section. I was unclear as to who in the family puked on the table, I think it was the older woman, but anyway I said that I wasn't going to clean it up. I made a big stink about it and wouldn't get near the table the rest of the night. The people who were at the table next to table 9, got up and left in the middle of their dinner, and I honestly didn't blame them. The people didn't even TRY to clean it up themselves, I guess they figured since it was a "Sw***y" resturant we were supposed to do it or something. What is WRONG with people?

You did amazing Silver!! I think you deserve an emet award for doing that. I can't believe that mother didn't have even the common decency to clean up the v*, that is really just rude. You did really amazing tho, I mean holy cow you cleaned up some strange kids v*!! Thats like top rung of emet hierarchy!

This brings back horrible memories of working in retail stores. On two seperate occassions, in two different past jobs of mine, we had customers who decided to take a #2 all over the bathroom floor, and then manage to fall into it and spread it around..on EVERYTHING.

on both occassions, I was the person who had to discover what had happened, and my emetophobia automatically kicked in, due to the sight and the idea it might make me sick. But thank God I managed to get out of having to clean the bathrooms. O___O

you are by far MUCH stronger than me. I would have run the other direction screaming or crying, and demanded the rest of the day off.
