I havent been here for a while...cause to be honest things have gotten so much better I worry on a daily basis..and look at myself to see if im pale or what not...I do my routines....but I dont worry so much....now I hear on the news that Norwalk virus has become a problem at two of the hospitals in Ottawa >.<...For those that live in Ottawa it's the:

    Civichospital
    Riverside hospital

Only 12 people have gotten sick...but it's clear its here and spreading which scares me to no end ! Even though I've actually never gotten an sv during winter...ALWAYS ALWAYS in March - May maybe once in September...but thats whenI was in Kindergarden :P

but never the less...Norwalk virus was what started this fear in the first place with me...so its like...its coming back to haunt me ><!!

Try not to worry. Your not going to any hospitals right? Then you
should be fine. You have to ingest it remember? So you will be okay. I
know it hard. We have schools closed down in the town next to me
because of it. uh. Be happy we aren't in school any more
    I love Sam

I honestly wouldn't worry that much-

First off, my boyfriend works at the Ottawa General Hospital, and they are very good at tracking these things and quarantining those affected. You mentioned that only 12 people have been affected- considering that there are hundreds of people in those hospitals, 12 is a fairly small number. And if they had been identified, it's relatively easy to contain.

Second, hospitals are very different from being in the general population. People are in very close quarters, and it's not like school where they go home at the end of the day. They are there almost 24/7, and staff moves between patients. Even though I know staff in those two hospitals are very diligent about handwashing, sometimes they still unknowingly spread things from one patient to another, because they occasionally move between them quickly. What occurs in a hospital should not be viewed as symptomatic of what may happen to you, because the situation is quite different.

So....don't worry about it! My boyfriend works in the field and my worst nightmare is him coming home with a stomach virus, and I am not all that worried.

I'm more worried about guests ...as my bus passes through the Riverside hospital bus stop :P lovely eh? XD so sick people might get on the bus..yadda yadda...its extreme yes :P...but with Norwalk there is no extreme to me >.<

but that is comforting : ) so thank you...I just hope I wont have to go to the hospital anytime soon (sick family) and I could just see it becoming an issue...cause my grandfather is...sadly somewhat on the decline...but he is at home...so I'm terrified I'll be put in the situation of go to the hospital with people sick...to see my grandfather or stay home and feel like a horrible person...I know I'd choose to go...but needless to say this is gonna be an interesting winter

    Thanks again though :P

Hey- My bus route is the 85, so I go by the General, CHEO, and the rehab centre- lol, AND the Riverside. You just have to remember to wash your hands before you eat- you can't catch anything by breathing the same air as someone.

And I go to the General at least once or twice a month to drop something off for my boyfriend, bring one of the guys I volunteer with to the cancer centre for appointments, etc. When I go see my boyfriend at work, I actually have to walk through the ER- which always gets me on alert. But, thusfar nothing has happened.

I hope things work out with your grandfather

Norwalk is the worse virus. When it was floating around New England about 5 years ago, my husband had it so bad, he ended up at Ergent Care in the hospital on Cipro.

The problem with Norwalk is once it begins, it's nearly impossible to contain.

If people simply washed their hands after going to the bathroom, it would be eradicated.

Be vigilant, wash your hands, and NEVER touch your face with your hands. Keep tissues handy for those scratches!
