Have any of you found that you have to fight off the feeling of being
annoyed at people in general, due to emet? The older I get, the
more impatient I am with people and how they approach things like
hygiene, sending their kids to school when they are sick, talking about
being sick, etc. It's hard to not become misanthropic, but after
a while people sort of wear you down. The fact that they seem to
not be troubled by the things we emets are only adds to the annoyance!

Last week a mum at my daughters school was ranting in the playground about the stomach bug she and her 3 kids had just gotten over. I had to listen to all the story so many times over. On Friday, i had had enough of 3 days ofit and decided to stand somewhere else which is hard considering this mum is a friend (who is aware of my emet!). Another friend came up to me and mentioned that her eldest daughter was off school. The eldest daughter has just started her period so is adjusting, but this other mum didn't even listen properly she just assumed it was a SV, so she started going on about it being in the papers on the wednesday night and that doctors telling people not to go out if they have a sv, and that it's a really bad bug that every one is getting and schools are shut. Other mums looked scared to bits! Well, i get the paper every night and i don't remember seeing this, so, when i got home, i pulled out wednesdays paper and found the very small article which she was scaring everyone with. She had over exagerated and all the article was saying that if people are ill (of any kind) to do everyone else a favour and stay at home. What was so wrong with that - bloody good sense if you ask me and i was pleased to see doctors had mentioned this. However it did not mention the fact that 'everybody has it/getting it' and it did not mention the fact that schools were closed (in our area) because of it. Needless to say, when i went to pick my daughter up that Friday evening, i told everyone, in front of the mum, that i had read the article and it wasn't saying there was a nasty bug going around at all. Then i suggested to the mum (who is not a very hygienic person) to take advantage of the weekend and get her hubby to take the kids out on a 2 hour walk to get fresh air in their lungs (both parents smoke around the kids and do not open windows in the house or car) and i suggested that it might be a good idea if she were to open her windows and give her house a thorough cleaning. She actually agreed with me and thanked me. I saw her Monday and she said she had done as i suggested and they all felt much better. I had tochuckle to myself!Edited by: trixie
