I had to take DS to the doctor yesterday for a sore throat/cough because strep is going around and I wanted to make sure it wasn't anything that DD would get.
There was only one other family in the waiting room and we were about 10 feet away. Their 2 year old was GREEN...I'm sure it was a stomach virus.
I didn't touch anything in the room, DS just touched the chair he sat in. We were in there for about 5 minutes w/ that family.
The nurse opened the door and weighed DS, he touched the scale. They put us in a room w/ the sink. I washed our hands and sprayed everything with whatever it was that was in the can on the shelf (probably like lysol?). We waited. Dr. came in, washed his hands, touched DS and all that jazz and left. We left. I touched their pen and the door handle w/ my shirt. Got in the car and scrubbed our hands w/ antibacterial wipes (I know, AB gels don't do anything for the *sv but I figured wiping was better than nothing). We drove through Mc.D for ice cream, came home and unloaded the kids, washed our hands again and ate.

Do you think we are at risk for catching something from the office?

Not likely with that routine. Also, while AB stuff doesn't necessarily kill a virus, washing your hands good with soap will loosen and rinse away any virus particles. I'd say you're way good.
