I hate this time of year!

Ok, so I went to the bank this afternoon (the drive up) and I was chatting with the teller and she told me that her son was home sick today....and of course, stupid me asked what he was sick with....and she said that he has the sv that EVERYONE at school has been getting even the teachers!! So I made sure that I barely touched the receipt that she gave me and I threw it away when I got to work and then washed my hands......WHEW...that was close

AND THEN! I was on my way back from my "dinner break" with some McD's and when I had got back to work my co-host was already inside. So I walk in sit down at my desk and start eating my McDs. She came in the room with me and program director and proceeded to tell me that her and her daughter had the stomach flu on Tuesday and Wednesday (it's Friday). I immediately threw away the rest of my food and washed my hands like crazy and then used Germ X.....I am now on high alert!!!

I'm scared, if this sv is going around I don't want it!!!!! Am I at risk of getting it now since I came in contact with these 2 people?????
I CAN get through this! ♥Melanie♥

    Hi Melanie,

From what I understand, you can only catch a sv* by ingesting it. It seems you were pretty religious about cleaning your hands after being in contact with these people. If this makes you feel better: I have been working in a school that has regular outbreaks of sv* and I wash my hands like crazy and in four years haven't v* once even though kids have actually v* in my classroom.

wow, domino, that is great. There is an sv running rampant in Boston, and surrounding areas, so I am on high alert and gonna wash my hands like crazy also. This is the worst I have seen it in years. Schools, ships, restaurants, it's horrible! Always on the news, too!!

Yeah, From the Q&A thread and other websites, you have to ingest it...So as long as you were careful and washed your hands, your are good.

Just remember that your co-host might not have still been contagious and you didn't lick her fingers.

And the bank teller, well that's just irrational! And I am not being ugly because I am the most irrational person I know

Hey, I just saw on the CDC website that 57 percent of cases of Norwalk infection are foodborne, as in not person-to-person. I think only 16% is person-to-person so if you're careful where you eat you're probably greatly reducing your chances of catching what's going around even IF you are around people in the public who have it. That's good news to me.

Thanks!! I feel better about the bank and the co worker.....

....but now I am afraid of something else!

Last night my bf and I went to his brother's house. we were sitting in the living room and my bf's SIL asked Jacob (bf nephew) if he wanted to go to Pizza Hut with us and he said no cause his tummy hurt! EEK! So it was just me, bf, his bro and his wife. During the middle of our dinner SIL says "so, Vic are you feeling better?" And he says "yeah, a little bit" and I asked what was wrong and he said that he was crabby and didn't feel the best. But SIL ordered 2 personal pizzas to go for the kids back at home.....No word of v* or a sv but just a mention of a tummy ache....that's it! WHY AM I FREAKING?

You are freaking because that is what Emet's do...But honey, You are fine...Kids get stomach aches all the time, for no reason...I wouldn't even give this a second thought...Seriously, You are fine.
