this may seem a little farfetched, but do any of your pets show emetophobic tendencies?? haha i have 2 cats, the older one is diabetic and v*s at least once or twice a week, if not more, the younger is 2 1/2 years old (and a complete sweetheart) and he refuses to v*... right before he starts retching he cries like a baby and doesnt leave my side and once he begins retching he keeps swallowing and rarely ever actually v*s... my mom makes fun of both of us lol

My cat just hates making a mess, anytime she is sick or has made any kind of mess she just cries and cries until it's cleaned up. Maybe it's ocd haha idk I think Cats just like to be clean and it upsets them if they are not.

I have 2 cats and the older one v* about once every couple of weeks and he doesn't really seem to mind it. My younger cat doesn't v* as often, but when he does,he lets out a HUGE cry right before he v* and he swallows a lot and stands perfectly still until the n* passes or he v*. Poor li'l guy. My husband gets a kick out of how me & my cat will both do anything not to v*.

Well there could be something to that. Obviously animals like cats don't have high enough thought processes to develop phobias in the same way humans do.

However, dogs and cats do develop aversion behaviors. Such as if a dog was abused by being hit by a newspaper, then there's a good chance it could get to where it's afraid of the mere sight of an newspaper. In that way it is similar to a phobia now that I think about it.

With something like v*ing....I'm not sure. I know in people some of the development emet has to do with reactions of adults when we v*ed as children, but I think some of it also has to do with the sheer unpleasantness of the act. After all it's painful and uncomfortable, so maybe an animal could develop a fear of an internal discomfort like v*ing like they would an external one like being hit by a newspaper.

I had a cat who used to go to the litter tray every time she wanted to v*! But another of my cats used to let out a loud 'Muuuummmm' before he did it. I felt sorry for him - I used to shout for my mum too!

I know that my sister's cat will do everything possible not to vomit, I've seen him retch for like 10 minutes and nothing comes up.

Then there was this time that me and my dad were sitting on the couch and the dog started to heave, and my dad didn't want to clean up after him if he did vomit so he kept shouting at the dog, saying, "CALM DOWN! JUST CALM DOWN!" I don't know HOW it worked, I just know it did.

My cat paces around, looks distressedand moans out before she does it-like mother like daughter! She is an emet, too! She looks so rough after and hides away after she does it. Then she comes out later and is back to her normal relaxed self.

My cat used to be good and throw up in her litter tray but now it's just wherever she feels like it. Lucky for me it doesn't bother me at all to clean it but just for ease I wish she'd do it in her tray. Much better than finding an unexpected suprise

I don't think mine are but it's funny because I assume that EVERYONE/THING is. Like I won't pick them upor rough house w/ them after they eat, etc lol.
