I came across this video tonight after doing a bit of surfing, and I loved it. It's one in a series of video blogs by our very own Violet. In it she talks about emetophobia, a very general idea of what it is and how it can affect people, but her in particular.

I thought I'd post this here (with her knowledge) because it meant a lot to me personally. I know being a part of the IES forums has helped me realize I'm not alone, but Violet's video made it a little easier to literally see that there are other people out there with emet. Not only that but being able to relate to pretty much everything she says in it is a relief.

So I thought I'd strongly suggest taking a look, it's a great starting point for people just finding out about our phobia and it also makes for a pretty personal teaching tool if you're ever looking for a quick but informative way to explain the phobia.

Check it out, and post what you think, Violet's turning over ideas to do more of an emet blog and I for one would love to see it happen

    Emet Vid

Oh, and as a side note, this is simply a video blog, no pictures, no exposure. Just our wonderful Violet being informative and open.

Love Love Love the candidness of that Violet...

I think that you sparked something interesting...I personally think it's a GREAT idea for people to "Talk" about their Phobia without hesitation or shame...It's different when you are typing because you are just a picture, just a face...What you have done is bring us all into your World a bit more by sharing your expressions, your tone and your raw emotions...I am thinking that I too would like to make a video...I think that it would be therapeutic for me in my recovery.

Thank you so much Violet for getting me thinking...and inspiring me.

Oh and your accent is brilliant...sounds a bit Scottish...But what do I know, just a Southern girl.

^^ I LOVE Violet's accent, I don't know why I always imagined her sounding English when I live in Scotland and so does she. What a loser I've been following some recovery based ED videos on youtube and think they are amazing, so it is even more amazing to see something on there that relates to us and how we feel. Very honest too. I LOVE it

Yes, I don't know what kind of accent she has but doesn't it have a bit of Scottish sound to it? Sorta like Ewan Mcgregor???

I would love to see other people make videos...introducing themselves and really seeing them express what they go through...I am going to make one, if you choose to watch, I don't care...I just think it would be good for me...And I hope to be able to look back at it one day and smile because I know I am not suffering anymore.

Yes it's a Scottish accent, which makes sense, I don't know why I thought she wouldn't sound scottish haha. I do love the accent though. Because I was born in England I just have my boring English accent. Boo.

Yeah I would love to see other videos as well.

Yeah I would love to see other videos as well.

Scottish, British, Irish...doesn't matter...They all sound freaking amazing.

TRUST ME, I am sure your accent is the furthest thing from boring...Just come over to Alabama and you will be loved...Everyone will make you say things like "Laboratory"...Or maybe that's just me that would make you say it...

Yep, Bring on the videos everyone...I'm intrigued.

woah, guys, thank you so very much for you're kind compliments over this video log Im all very shy now after this haha!

I am going to make more of these as the weeks go on, just trying to figure out what angle to come from as there are some things you just dont want to tell lol

Yep, I've got a Scottish accent, weird one sometimes as it isnt very harsh I dont think, well not unless Im really tired then alot of people just cant understand me lol

I hope you all do get to make your own video's, it is good to talk and get it out, you can also with youtube, make the friends only videos, as in when you build up a group of emet friends on there or anyone that you wish to have as your friend and share them with each other, so that it doesnt have to be totally public if that makes you feel uncomfortable..

Thank you again all, so so much for your kind words, i am really happy you all enjoyed it, so keep an eye out for some more in the future

Thanks so much, Violet, for speaking so openly about your fears and "colourfuldemise" for sharing it with us. I loved the songs that were playing in the background. What songs are they and who sings them? Thanks!

Thanks so much for your quick response! I loved the songs. A 3rdsong started too towards the end which also sounded good. All such beautiful songs. Kind of gave an eerie loveliness to the whole video.

Violet.....That is wonderful!!! I just watched your video and I thought it was amazing. You spoke so honestly about this phobia, and I think it's great you were able to share it. It was also interesting to see how many people commented about having emetophobia as well. I'm sure you've helped alot of people out there realize what was going on with them!

By the way, LOVE that song by Sia. Absolutely beautiful!!
