i lay really still in bed with a window wide open (even if it's really cold
out) and a cool rag on my forehead, turn the lights out, and put on the
tv (i usually put in a full house dvd, those are my "comfort dvds"). i try
to breathe deeply and slowly, and after the panic has passed, i usually
fall asleep for a good hour or so (those things suck the energy right out
    of you!).

I try to focus my concentration on something, like a movie or music. What i purchased recently wasa relaxation CD and downloaded it to my ipod. That really helps because i lay down and listen to it...i too fall asleep usually. (I hate how tired i get after a panic attack!) I also usually feel like breaking something, i dont know why but it helps so usually its like a pencil and i just start bending it...its kind of a release of some sort i guess. I think the last thing i do, is concentrate on breathing deeply, i count in through my nose to 5 and out through my nose to 10, i heard somewhere it relaxes you more if you breath out double the ammount you breathe in.

    Hope that helps!

Deep abdominal breathing is the #1 route to calming down. Be sure to exhale SLOWLY - as slowly as possible. And don't blow out air through your mouth like you see some people do when they're stressed. Feel the relaxation through your whole body when you exhale. It will slow down your heart, and that triggers other systems in your body to relax as well.

Well, depending on how I feel I might pace the floors. Generally though I try a hot shower which I always find relaxing. Or curling up in bed w/ my heating pad (in the winter). I also try to distract myself by watching something good on TV or surfing the web. If I find something that I can really get into it works really well. Once my mind moves onto something else I find that my body becomes much more relaxed.
