My sister went into labor yesterday morning and i was the only person she had during labor. She kept telling the nurse to get the trash can cause she said she was gonna be sick. And of course, I panicked and left her in there alone until her n* went away, but, every time she coughed or leaned over the trash can, i left. I felt really terrible for doing this.

I am sure that she understands, I can understand how you feel. At least you were there for her during this experience, I am sure she is very appreciative.

I can totally relate to that. When I was emetophobic there is no way I would have been able to stay in the room. On top of that, I would have felt the same shame and guilt that you feel. Hopefully your sister is an understanding person. Remember that it's not your fault. You were in just as much distress as her that day, if not more. You can overcome this, too!

    Take care

She was in labour so she mightn't even remember that you ducked out of the room for those yucky bits.

Were you there when she gave birth, how was the experience? I would be so moved to see a neice/nephew born, what did she have?

First of all, congrats to your sister!

I don't blame you for leaving. But remember, v'ing during labor can be normal, so at least you know that you won't get it.

Aww congratulations to your sister and to you, the new aunt! On the positive side you did something alot of emets couldnt/wouldn't do. Just being htere is a huge step! Be proud of yourself! So you walked out a few times, there's people that can't handle blood and would have probably missed the most important part, the actual birth! We wouldn't think less of them for that so why should anyone think less of you! Again congrats, both on being a new aunt AND being there to start w/!
