I was just wondering what types of food you guys mostly avoid eating due to the risk of getting sick from it. What do you avoid eating from restaurants. I am going through a little "spell" right now where I am worrying constantly about what I eat. This happens to me once in a while then after maybe a weekit goes away. Thanks so muchfor your help!!

fish or seafood of any kind

    sprouts of any kind

uncooked things (raw vegetables, etc)at buffets/things that aren't heated or cooled properly

    soft cheese

things with raw egg, like caesar salad

I also will not eat anything somebody has shot and butchered themself..I just can't bring myself to, because at least with meat from the store you know what's going into it and how healthy it is. What condition the thing you shot is in is anyone's guess..so no deer or anything for me, even though I can't stand stuff like that anyway.

buffets are the thing to watch for really.

Anything that is easy to choke or gag on. Other than that, I will eat almost anything.
It\'s all right to have butterflies in your stomach. Just get them to fly in formation.

I dont eat meat - becasue of the poisioning risks and the fact that I HATE the texture of it. I'm actually not that fussy about eaitng things - as long as they arent meat or fish and that I wash my hands before!!

I hope i dont offend anyone, but this aint the greatest thread to have... i mean telling ppl what foods we are scared of or dont like to eat incase of illness might make someone else think oh yeah well maybe i should avoid it too. All u need to remember is if its in date, its been prepared ok/its fresh etc then its fine to eat!! No 1 type of food makes everyone ill! I just hate to think of some ppl here reading all these foods and thinking, well if theyve had bad experiences with these foods then maybe i will too? Sorry!!!!

Well, I was thinking of more along a food safety idea than just things that make people scared.

Because, there ARE certain foods that carry a higher risk, it's simply a fact of life.

i kinda agree Sarah - just coz when i was really really bad with emet - i read a story in here abt pineapple and it made me aviod all tinned stuff for ages...but i think we have to just try and be more rational - i know it is easy for some.

like sarah said tho guys - as long as you prepare it properly and be careful then there shouldnt be a problem.

I don't avoid anything unless I don't like it! I'm vegetarian but have been for 18 years - nothing to do with emet.

I use to be really bad and I avoided a lot of foods including the tin can thing. I am a lot better now and my only problem now is overcooking meat and using javex/bleach when I cook chicken.

I don't avoid any food except for seafood b/c I don't like it. Other than that, I'll eat anything. I love food.

I only eat seafood when I know it was caught from the ocean THAT DAY. I live at least 8 hours from the nearest ocean, so I don't trust anything in our grocery stores here. I was so disappointed because I wanted to go to a seafood restaurant when I was on vacation at the beach last week, but nobody else wanted to go. So the last time I had seafood was 5 years ago, and it will probably be another 5 years before I get to the ocean again.

I don't really avoid that much, but I am leery about what I eat in restaurants, and only go to chain restaurants where I know they have strict food handling regulations. No "Mom and Pop" Diners for me! I eat just about everything else.

SEMOLINA AND RICE PUDDING (Big no no for me!)

RARE MEAT (lightly cooked meat freaks me out!)

FISH (Not a great fish fan but do eat it on occasion)

POPCORN (I used to avoid it because i saw vomit on the floor at the cinema once and its suspiciously looked like popcorn! I love the stuff now!)

i think the main thing we have to remember about this site --- is we're all free to post what we want as long as its not BLATENTLY offending someone or a group of people. so, we just have to pick and choose what we read/what we dont -- what we reply to/what we dont.

cos ppl wudnt post something unless they needed some help or support or smthing i guess.

baked beans are a no no, really nasty experience.
so too is pizza and pasta, i can't cope with those rich sauces.
chocolate related anything i'd rather ignore.
i also steer clear from anything with tomato sauces, eg) spaghetti hoops in a can and stuff.
Curries, seafood..etc etc i avoid like the plague.
