I know this has been discussed before, but this is slightly different I suppose.

I don't burp. I think I've burped all of four times in my life, not counting when I was a baby of course. I get these weird gurgling or hiccup type things that some of you may or may not be able to relate to. But whenever I do come close to actually burping, (which has been happening more often recently than ever before,) I get pretty freaked out, and worry that it means I'm going to get sick or something. Ugh!

aw honey don't worry. i know EXACTLY what you're talking about. i never burp either. the only times i've burped really are right before i v*. i really doubt though that you're going to get sick. burping is natural and sometimes just happens unexpectedly.

I actually enjoy burping (wow, that sounds disgusting lol). Sometimes if I feel n* like I am going to v*, a good burp can sort of alleviate some of my symptoms. I don't know why that happens for me, but it does.

One of my best friends CAN'T burp unless someone pats her on the back, like a baby! I wonder why.

The same with me. I've never burped in my whole life. I mean never and I'm afraid when I feel like it.
It was hard but I'd do it again (c)

i agree with swtcatastrphe, burping can make my n* go
away or at least lessen. burping is natural and you
sometimes need to do it. it gets out the air bubbles and it
won't hurt you. (that being said, i sometimes freak out
when people burp. but usually only a tiny bit and it goes
right away)

I love burping but it does feel a bit like n* just before you burp sometimes, not always.

Other burping also frightens me. Nice to know I'm not the only one.

My husband laughs at me when I "jump out of my skin" when our puppy burps (yes, he is a very, very gassy little fella - LOL).

I would love to be able to burp! I really can't not even if I try and
sometimes when I feel n* I can just tell if I was a person who could
burp, I would and feel much better! I can't quite reach round to pat
myslf on the back and am too embarassed to ask anyone! So for
now I will remain burpless! (and bloated !)

I wish I didn't burp. I burp like a beer drinkin' man. It feels good though if I
have just eaten a bunch.

I have to admit I love to burp. Its like instant relief. Plus, its fun to see how many words I can get out before the end. I know, that is not very ladylike. But, I am not a farter. The reason I'm not a farter is because I burp a lot I think! I do hate the diet pepsi through the nose burp though, it hurts.

rentaduckie-I have actually tried patting myself on the stomach and
then I chicken out! I think I am a bit scared to do it too though I know
I'd be relieved. I keep thinking I should make myself burp under
controlled circumstances ie when I feel fine but just driink lots of fizzy
water or something and pat stomach and in a way practice for when I
feel really bad. Only think is I get scared that is I drink loads of fizzy
stuff, if I did manage a burp I might v*. Very annoying and frustratin...
Some people say you should try baking soda mixed with water and this
will always make you burp, I want to try but am again scared as you
can imagine! Has anyone tried baking soda to help with gas and if so
does it make you feel n* ? xxxxxx

Be careful with soda - it can irritate your stomach.

Ever since my anxiety has gotten really bad I burp A LOT. It's not really anything from my stomach, it's more a throat thing. My doctor said it's common in people who suffer from anxiety...I think he called it something like a backwards burp or a reverse burp?

ME TOO!!! And it only started happening when the anxiety started getting really bad! Freaked me out for a while, but it's gone on so long now, I just ignore it. Way weird...

Me three! I think I remember hearing from a former therapist that people with anxiety burp more, because they often breathe erratically and through their mouths, inhaling a lot more air than the average person.

Also, people with severe anxiety often develop other issues, like IBS or ulcers, (I have both), which can make you, uh, gassier.

I'm also among the people who feel that burping can help alleviate some of their nausea.

I can only burp if I'm sitting straight up. If I'm laying in bed I'll have to sit up to burp. Often times when I'm in bed with my boyfriend watching TV I'll sit up out of no where and he'll know to pat me on the back, LoL.

But I like burping because it really helps alleviate some ill feelings. Though when I'm feeling particularly n* it's always a relief when I burp and it's air that comes up and not something else!
