Just in case you did'nt see the title...this can be graphic...so proceed with caution!

I was riding home today with my mom when I saw a car pulled over on the side of the highway. Usually I'm good about not looking...but this time I was dumb and actually looked. Well...right as we drove by...there was this young adult standing over the guardrail. He kicked his foot and then

just v* everywhere. My mom was like 'whoops' and I just stared straight ahead. I didn't want to freak out in front of her so I tried my hardest to contain myself. Fortunately, my mom didn't bring it up again but my stomach was doing flip flops everywhere. I'm much better now..and was 10 minutes after I saw it.

However, I'm fearful of what my reaction will be when I pass that spot again as I have to drive by it everytime I come home from work. I'm going to try to blast my radio and forget about it. I need to keep in mind that yes, it was gross...but I'm ok and I'm still here to talk about it.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how they have overcome spots where they saw someone vomit or saw a pile of it?

    Thanks so much!
    Peace,
    Allyson

This is a really hard one...

I still am very uncomfortable seeing, or hearing people be sick. The exposure thing would send me in to a panic, I have no idea why, it's just something I am still very freaky about. Drew got sick in the yard a little while back, and I was very uncomfortable even mowing in that spot, I know that may sound silly but it's true. The best way to handle it I guess would be to turn the radio up, relax and say to yourself it wasn't me, it wasn't me....

I am sorry you had to see that, glad you handled it so well..

I think the best thing is distraction too - it probably won't even still be there when you drive past so don't eventhink about it.

Sorry I'm not much help but it wouldn't actually bother me at all

I remember each place where I saw someone pulled over or saw a pile, and I think the only thing that makes it not as bad is time.... I still remember situations from when I was younger, like 20 years ago or more, in fact once was when I was at the doctor's office and I must have been like 10 or younger, and a kid in the room across the hall got sick in the sink and the door was open. My mom walked over and closed the door. I remember these things forever and I don't know how to get my brain to stop that, so I guess I just wait for it to pass.....

yeah u got the best advice neone can give. distraction. play the radio and try just to not think about it.about 5 mins before ur "due" topass that spot -- if thers smthing on ur mind -- actively think about that for a while - or do the thing where u think about sitting in ur favourite place or stmhing.

i have to say this has never happened to me before so yeah =P

Well what has been said are my only suggestions. I still remember all the spots and I can't seem to help it even if it has been forever. I just distract myself and though I remember I find that it isn't as bad every time I go past. No pannick at all.
The radio IS an awsome idea especially if you have a channel that you can sing to. Before you know it you are long past it. It won't be there anyways especially if there has been a rain.

Congrats on not freaking out. That is awsome
Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you\'ve never been hurt and live like it\'s heaven on Earth.
