Hello everyone, I have just joined the group, and am very excited that there are other people that experience such things as I.

My name is Linzi, I live in Calgary, AB, Canada. I am 22 years old and work as a hairstylist. I have lived with this phobia for some time now, and am happy that I can talk to others as well. I have a pretty good support system at home, but my boyfriend gets annoyed when I keep asking him if my food looks cooked!

This past week has been pretty scary, there has been a e coli outbreak at a few restaurants in calgary, around 50 cases.

I have developed a daily plan that I follow to help me deal with my fear, but lately it hasnt been helping. I am really glad to have found this group and hope to help and support others here as well!

You don`t sound freaky at all, this is where we can be ourselves without being judged because this phobia makes us do crazy things, and we understand, so don`t think you are weird or freaky, ever!!!!

Hello again, thanxs for the replies, makes me feel better.

Its the next morning now, so I am fine. Its mostly at night where I start to get paranoid and nervous. I am sooooo excited to know that there is a place like this, dont get me wrong, im not excited that so many people suffer from this, but its good to know other people out there understand.

I am glad to be here and hope to get to know everyone!

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn\'t be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn\'t know that so it goes on flying anyway.

    WELCOME

It is great to have you with us Linzi. I hope that you find what you are looking for. I know I did. I know that it is great just knowing that what I have has a name and that I am not alone. In fact there are a lot more people out there with this problem than we know about.
I am 25 from BC, nice to see another Canuck.
E-coli outbreaks are always scary, but since I have started getting better I don't let that ruin my life anymore. It use to be that I would hear that (Even knowing it was as far as Calgary) and i would freak out. It sounds like you are handling it well.
Does your bf know about your condition or does he just have an idea? I look forward to learning more about you. Good to have you.
Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you\'ve never been hurt and live like it\'s heaven on Earth.

Hey everyone thanxs for the welcome!

Melikasa: My boyfriend pretty much knows everything about my phobias and such, we have been together over four years now, he is quite understanding, and he knows when I am getting nervous before I do!! He knows that if I let my mind wander and worry I will have a panic attack, so he tries to make me feel better and get my mind off of it. hes great. I told him this morning that I had found this group and that there is actually a name to this phobia, he was quite surprised to know that there are others out there, with the same type of fear, but hes happy that I know more now. Does that make sense. whoo im babbling. (just had a bunch of candy)

crazybeautiful: the e coli outbreak happened about a month ago at two my donairs, and a wendy's. they say they still cant find the source but who knows. One lady on the news was 5 months pregnant and caught e coli. Its a scary thing, but I am staying away from most food chains lately. Its better to eat at home anyway!

Thanxs again everying for the warm welcome!
