Hi there, I am new here but what kind of virus is it? After I caught the Norwalk in January 2003 I always use the rexall hand sanitizer and I think it works wonders. I haven't been sick since. My daughter has been fine for a while too and always uses the gel automatically too. Chances are if you were not around them you shall be okay. I know where you are coming from because I would be a wreck too.

hey Stephanie, im sure your going to be fine, it is surprisingly quite hard to catch a virus, and it doesnt sound lke uv been necessarily exposed to it for very long.

so keep tryin to keep urself distracted from it. but i kno where ur coming from, obviously.

Just try not to think about it. I know it is hard, but that's all you can really do. Also, wash you hands, and use hand sanitizer. Also, your mother can do things to prevent spread of the virus. If she has diarrhea, she needs to wash her hands after everytime she has it. Also, if she vomited or had diarrhea in the toilet, she needs to do a good cleaning of it after she is feeling better. A good germ killing cleaning. Those are the only things I can really tell you to do. A virus is usually spread by dirty hands with the germs on it because they don't wash their hands after using the restroom. So wash your hands (Being Emet, you probably would anyways)! But most of the times, it is kids who do not wash their hands properly and passes it to other kids who don't wash their hands either. I think that is how it spreads through schools. But, that doesn't mean adults will wash their hands. So, you needto take precautions, even if they said that they washed their hands. Um....

I hate to say this, but there is such thing as germs spreading airbourne. But, I think, thats if they vomited near you (Like right next to you) and the germs get into the air. I am not sure exactly how common this is, but the most common way of speading it is through not washing hands properly.

Just do not think about it. I hope you don't catch it!!!

Youngemet said everything that should be said.

Just keep those hands clean and away from your eyes, nose and mouth. I always heard to get some vitamin c into you. I don't know if that works or not. I hope your mom feels better soon.

Wow thats nice of your parents! My parents just make me stay here. I hope everything works out well! And don't worry, she did a good cleaning of the house and you're gone now, so it's doubtful that you'll catch it. Feel better!

That's great that they let you stay out of the house. If my mother came down with a stomach virus, I'd probably have nowhere to go.....except my dad's house, but that might interfere with school, so I wouldn't know what I would do. I don't really think you'll catch it and your mother is doing a good thing by usuin disinfectant. Some people probably wouldn't even use disinfectant. I hope your mother feels better soon and I hope you don't get it (I doubt you will get it, but....).

Your mom seems very supportive of your phobia. I must say that I'm jealous. My mom would purposely spread her germs around and I definitely mean that when I say it. She has no feelings for anyone but herself.

You are very fortunate, I mean, even your dad is supportive, when I think most dad's are the tough love kind, you know, you get hit in the head with a ball and they tell you to "walk it off"... I think that's sweet of your parents to be so considerate of your feelings and try and help out the anxiety as best they can. That's really one in a million!

Yeah my friend, tash, her mum has had a virus apparently for the past couple of weeks. I was expecting her to catch it but she's been fine. Jenneh's right - it's surprisingly hard to catch a virus.
