"parents just don't understand"
It's pretty amazing. I've been pretty open to my parents how my emet has been really bad these last few weeks. And yet they plan a trip for tomorrow to Montorey Aquarium (about 5 hours away) and tell me the only option I have for going is "yes". Yet they know I'm going to not eat the whole trip (all day) and have a miserable time. Not that Montorey is miserable, I LOVE MONTOREY, but when you don't have food in your stomach all day it makes you miserable.. *sigh*

Gosh..i just had a talk with my mom and she tells me "You should try to eata mealbefore school" I'm like "Are you insane?!" [lol i actually said that] Shewas like "What's the worse that can happen? you wont get hurt you wont die" Me: "I'm not talking about getting hurt or dying!! The worse that can happen-you know what the worse can happen! i just told you!" Grrr..

Anyway..yep, parents just dont understand. Its not fair. Oh well..dont worry about the trip.Try repeating in your head that everything is goingto fine and point out the good stuff about the trip. You said you love the place to that should makeit easier. The less nervous you feeland the more confident willmake things seem better.Sorry i'm trying at some advice..Gosh i'm so terrible at it i'm sorry~!

Well, from what you said, it seems like you are not even going to TRY to have fun. Now, why are you afraid to eat (I know you are emetophobic, but what would be there to make you sick?). I mean, my mother and I go on 5 hour drives when we go to Las Vegas. I never even think about getting sick. If you are afraid of motion sickness, if you are prone to it, you can get nausea from that whether you have food in it or not. People who are really prone to motion sickness would get it on a short drive too. It is not only long drives that can make someone sick. So, try not to associate long drives with vomiting, if that is what you are afraid of. Five hours isn't tht long of a drive, anyways. I go to Las Vegas 2-4 times a year and I never even get sick at all. And It is like a 5 hour drive. And I usually eat when we stop in Barstow.... and then we get RIGHT back to driving. Now, if you are prone, take some Dramamine or get the wrist bands to prevent motion sickness. If you do not eat, that will make you miserable.

Just try to have fun. If you do not try at all, you will not have fun. It is like you would be trying to make yourself miserable. Just relax. Try not to think about your problem. Try to have a fun time.

I hope you have a good time!

Thanks, the thing is, 3 weeks ago, I could have done this with no problem. But my emet has just been off the rocks lately. I always try to have a fun time, but when your stomach is growling full force it's hard too..also no food = grumpy ..

well, when i go on trips to my grandma & grandpa's house, they live about 5 hours away. i always bring my comfort drinks w/ me. it's a type of bottled water. then when we stop to use the restroom i ask my mom to get me some chips too, so i won't be hungry on the way up there. then i also am comfortable eating up there too.

sometimes, parents find it difficult to please everyone, not to mention..it doesn't matter whether or not you harp on about emet all day, they still won't fully understand it because they haven't had first hand experience themselves.
You can try to reason with them, or even take a handful of sweets to eat on the journey, so you don't feel starved of energy. A couple of sweets won't do any damage, especially not boiled ones.
I know its unfair, my parents took me to spain to stay in someones house for a week. I hated the travelling and ate no more than 5 items every frickin night, it was grim, but they deserved a holiday too.
Have fun, don't let it bother you. its only one day
