Gout...? - update pls reply!!!!

Hmmm, well ive had a sore thumb all day and ive just seen my mum and she says it looks like gout cos its all red and sore. So im going to the doctors on friday. It just sounds gross tho! And ive read up on the medication you have to take to get rid of it and they all cause nausea and v* eeeek!!! I hope its not gout!!!

As for medication side effects..please..try hard not to worry. If you read the back of almost any med one of the side effects will be nasuea and/or V*..they have to put any side effect anyone has ever had..one person (with a weak tummy) may have thrown up after taking something..and because of that they msut list it as a possibility.


Just because they are lsited does not mean it will happen ok???

I don't know, I think gout is a buildup of something in your body, like some kind of acid or something, but I thought it was always in your feet... I could be wrong.

Yeah its a build up of acid, usually in the feet but it can happen anywhere! Usually in a joint though, which is where mine is on my thumb. Its so bloody painful tho and it came on all of a sudden too. I know i shouldnt worry about medication that if i need anything. Im always saying to people that hardly any of the side affects listed actually happen!! Well i will update u on fri when ive seen the doctor (

This is true...almost ALLLLL medications list possible side effects as nausea and v*. I know I do the same thing, but it is one thing I am really attempting to work on, this realization that when the list says is...it doesnt always mean it is going to happen, especially if you have a stronger stomach and hardly ever v*. I think you'll do fine, good luck!

Okay I have said this before.... THE REASON THEY MUST
LIST THOSE IS DUE TO LEGAL REASONS! Its HIGHLY unlikely that you will
experience those side effects BUT if by some odd chance you were to and
you weren't warned about it, you would have the right to sue! They do
this ONLY to protect themselves from possibly lawsuits HOWEVER most of
the time, people dont get such side effects. I know this is hard, but
sometimes you have to go with the odds, okay no you are right there is
no guarantee that you WONT v from a drug but the odds of it happening
are much less than they are from you NOT getting sick! When I had
bronichitis back in May I was put on biaxum (cant remember the sp?) and
n and v were also listed on there and I was nervous because I have
heard of that drug upsetting stomach's (not v but just causing
cramping), I didnt so much get a single cramp! However its also best to
eat food with any kind of drug unless they specifically tell you not to
eat anything with it. I hope that rests your mind a bit!

I know i shouldnt worry about side affects, im always telling ppl not to worry lol!


Anyway i am in severe pain! I never knew ur thumb could cause so much pain aarrgghhh! Im not seeing the doctor til tomorrow but i couldnt even sleep last night it hurt so much!!! Im takin ibuprofen cos its an anti-inflammatory but sheesh its gettin as bad as labour pains lol!!!!

Ok so just after i wrote that last post my thumb got even worse, so i went to the doctors and guess what...... they have no idea what it is!!!!!! They think its an infection of some kind so im on anti-biotics and theyve given my strong co-drydamol to take. Im worried about taking the co-drydamol cause i asked the doctor about sickness and he said its common for ppl to feel sick when they take it eeeeeeekkkkk!!! He wasnt my usual doctor so i just said ok, but i dont think i will take them unless it gets so bad i cant stand it, ill stick to ibuprofen!!!


Im seeing my doctor tomorrow anyway about emet, depression etc so hes gotta have another look at it them see if anytings changed. i think it could be from ym cat cause wen he scratched my bfs mum she got an infection too. And i got like a puncture mark on my thumb from him???


I dont know, sorry for posting nonsense again!!!!

Did you tell the doc about the cat scratch? Cats can cause alot of nasty stuff like that cuz they step in their pee and stuff... [img]smileys/smilies_11.gif[/img]


I think the thing with most medication that causes stomach upset, if you take it with food, you'll do ok. I had some pretty strong painkillers when I broke my tailbone (ouch!!!!) and I just had each one with a piece of toast, and I felt real nice!!!![img]smileys/smilies_12.gif[/img]

Ive got to take my anti-biotics on an empty stomach and my co-drydamol with food lol duh! I didnt tell the doc about the cat cos i only thought about it after when my mum mentioned it what am i like? But im seein my usual doc tomorrow so ill tell hm then, but hopefully the meds im on now will do the trick!!!


I havent taken any co-drydamol yet eeek im just too scared even ho it hurts. If i cant sleep again ill take one tho and see how i get on! Sorry to bug u all [img]smileys/smilies_09.gif[/img]
