Since on another post they aren't censoring words I wanted to post something. What word related to vomit bothers you the most? For me it is 'blowing chunks.' I can stand about every other vomit related word except for that.

I think it's "puke", it sounds so blunt and vulgar to me... I usually say "barf" if I have to talk about it, like if the dogs do it or something. That seems pretty tame to me.

I don't like "through up" or "threw up". It seems really graphic to me.

no word really bothers me, its the actual thing, as sarahx said...although even though "get sick" is pretty tame, some of my friends will say "i got sick last night" meaning like, i came down with a cold last night. so sometimes that confuses me. but i would probably prefer to use it than, say tossed my cookies or something like that!

I agree, I hate all the words. Usually I use "feel sick, get sick, ill" etc....but I hate even using them. I use "thow up" too, just b/c I dont want people to think I'm weird by not using it. I will never use "blow chuncks", how horrid, along wth: spew, barf and ralph.

You know I saw a website on this, it was like over 1000
synonyms they use for v and they are all really stupid (I admit some
are kinda funny)!!! Like "Calling Earl" or "driving the porcelain bus"
or "calling Ralph (why Ralph???) on the big white telephone", or
"driving the Buik" (however they came up with that, I couldnt tell you,
or "parking the tiger" uggh, and "technicolor yawn" is gross too....

I never heard the term RALPH before? My mom said the real word for vomit is emesis. Maybe this is where Emetophobia comes from...emesis. I was always wondering that. LOL.

Good guess and you are right! The medical term IS
emesis, think about this, drugs that help stop n are called
ANTI-EMETICS, and drugs like that ippy icky stuff are called EMETICS to
bring it on! Why cant they just keep it to emesis?? You know I was
thinking, they dont have so many rediculous synonyms for #1 and #2, why
    for EMESIS??

You know the ones I hate the most!!!!! You might not know anyone like this, but have you ever had a friend or someone instead of calling it anything, they make that sound????? That BLAEEEEEEAAAAHHHH sound? I just want to slap them and do a nudie dance over top of them screaming shut up........ (Ok maybe that was a little far.) But I still wanna slap them though.

I think the only thing that doesn't bother me is "throw up". If I think about the words it is pretty gross. But vomit seems so absolute to me. Like if I say I feel like I might vomit, I definately will. And up chuck, toss your cookies, spew, blowing chunks---that is all gross!

I suppose it is all pretty gross.

Techni-color Yawn. I do not have a BIG problem with it, but thinking about that term ....it just sounds so gross. Also, "Blow chunks" is NASTY. Or anything that says chunks in it. The word "vomit" isn't that bad either. I mean.....that's what it is. Well, actually, vomiting is emesis, or whatever. So, no terms really bother me that much.

Yeah most of all of it is pretty bad but I will tell you (in order from scariest to least) the words are to me:

    1) Blow Chunks
    2) The actual word...VOMIT
    3) Barf (always reminds me of barf bags, and you know what those are for!)
    4) Puke
    5) Throw Up

But omg Ralph? Why dont they call it like, "Colin" or "Harry" or "Joe" or "Billy Bob?"

I dislike them all, but I'll use "got sick" or "threw up" The one that bothers me the most would probably be "Ralph" To tell the truth, I would freak out a whole lot more if someone said "I feel like I'm about to Ralph" than saying vomit, or something. Not sure why, though.
