I've been hearing this advertisement on the radio all week long. It's a phschologist named Lucinda Bassett. She's advertising about having anxiety and stress. She says that her tapes could make you better. It's got me curious because she claims she can cure you without meds and therapy. If anyone else has heard of her, let me know. I might just try it.

I got the book "Panic to Power" this morning at the library. I've not had a chance to read any part yet, but I'll let you know! Try to research her online, too!

By the way, I did some research on this lady. She is actually the author of the book from panic to power. There are actually some great reviews of this book. I think I might start with the book first before I commit myself to any kind of program. So if anyone is interested, look it up on the internet. This book is everywhere!

I saw her on Oprah. Good stuff...nothing wrong or untrue. But she's not too familiar with emetophobia and its particularities. I was corresponding with someone who went to her clinic and paid $1500 and all they did was sit her in an emergency room for 4 days and then talk some CBT with her. Anyway, it did nothing.

See how much the tapes are, and decide if you want to spend the money. Again, it's not stuff that's wrong or harmful or crazy...it's the regular stuff about panic attacks. So judge for yourself.

I heard the same advertisement on a Christian radio station, and my husband did too, so he decided to order the "free trial." So after listening to introductory tape and watching the video, I didn't get much out of it. I lost interest after the second or third tape because all that was talked about was the "plan" and how "great" it was, and not how it was going to help or make things better (sound like John Kerry's debates? "I have a plan...I have a plan...") What the heck is the plan?!!!! Even on her websites, you don't hear much about the "plan," just how "great it is" and how it's "helped" this person or that. Until I know that the actual substance of the plan is, it's useless to me.

By the way, Lucinda Bassett had this 30-day plan which allows you to not only view her tapes, but also to see her "workbook," which has her "plan for a cure" in it. Obviously, it didn't cure me, and it says to read through the workbook/listen to the tapes SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY, or else you "won't be cured" and the program is useless. (In other words, she is all about the money and wants to you to 'take your time and listen to the wonderful, healing program, without worrying about how much it will cost in the end' Well, I read through the entire workbook and listened to a few of the tapes (which mostly emphasized how great Lucinda Bassett's program is, rather than getting to the heart of the matter), and it isn't any better than plain old cognitive-behavioral therapy. Obviously, she went to a therapist to get "cured" and just reitorated the plan and claimed it as her own, and made millions off it. Sheis a "false prophet" orsorts and is pretty much useless.

Although I have never been able to afford EMDR therapy, due to crappyhealth insurance, I would recommend it over any other "get better quick" scheme anyone else has tooffer. At least we have a true testament that Sagehas been cured, right?
