Hey guys, this is a very important question for me because I've ben calling therapists/hypnotists around, and I've been getting their opinions and their prices......but I'm very skeptical.

Has anyone here tried it or all we all to afraid we'll be taken for fools????????

I'd love to hear about your experience and what you know about hypnotism....

    Thanks

I went to see a hypnothrapist. It didnt do much for me, but i dont think i was relaxed enough. I would go for one session and see how i feels, you dont have to go back if u dont like it or it doesnt feel right. But id say give it a go, it may help at least in some way.

You need to be very suggestive to be hypnotize, I tried and it didnt work for me. Honestly, I don't believe in it at all. I have not heard anything good about it in my experience, but I tried anyway. If it is really expensive, I wouldn't waste your money.

I heard hypnotherapy does wonders for people with phobias. But I think the catch is that you really have to believe in it. If your a skeptic, it probably won't work. I, myself, am a skeptic and I don't want to waste my money.

I've tried hypnosis a good few times, and even thou it has helped me,at the time,it hasn't helped in the long run.....What i found it did was to relax me and learn good relaxation techniques, and my confidence afterwards was great gives u a feeling of positive thinking......so i think that it is good in some ways but i have never heard or seen anyone cured from hypnosis.....so maybe go alongwith an open mind and just enjoy the experience....I know in the UK it is quite expensive so just look around and talk on the phone first....i know that the best people to go to is someone working through your doctor surgery.....i don't know how it works where u are so keep an open mind but don't expect a cure .....

i hope this helps take care Vicky

when i got desperate i was seriously considering hypnotism as well... to try and remember things from my past that may have triggered this phobia really...

im currently reading a book which is a true story of someone who was having treatment for their multiple personality disorder, and she was hypnotised and it seemed to work..

guess theres not really ne harm in trying!

Thank you guys for your help, I agree with the money, it is quite expensive, and if I had all the money in the world, I wouldn't care less if it didn't work but I guess thats why I'm so skeptical, because if it doesn't work I've wasted my time and my little money I have saved away for a rainy day!!!!

I really don't know what to do....I mean if it was that good, wouldn't our GP's and maybe even psychiatrists push us to do it????

i tried it an he charged me £40 a session an i had 5 sessions, it didnt do a think for me unfortunately, but every hypnotist is different and every human reaction to these things is different so if u find it cheap enough i wouldnt completely rule it out xxxx

I've never heard of hypnosis alone being helpful to treat emetophobia. Many claim it, but I haven't seen the scientific evidence. It can be a helpful part of an overall treatment program. But your best bet is a cognitive-behavioral approach, at least to start. Once you have symptom relief (as I did), you can move on to other therapies that dig deeper, and bring deeper overall healing.

I tried hypnosis. The therapist told me that I should be cured in three sessions. After about 8 sessions at £60 each it did not really have any effect. If anything made me worse as I questioned things more. I tried to be open minded about it also and not skeptical believeing what she said.

I have now just started cognitive behavioural therapy so hopefully that will be more helpful but you do have to be totally committed.
