My favorite movie is Blazing Saddles!

My top 5 are that, The Jerk, Princess Bride, A Mighty Wind, and When Harry Met Sally.

The Notebook was just okay. It made me cry a lot, but it was very sappy!

I love talking about movies!!

My favs are American History X, Fight club, and any/all Rob Zombie movies [House of 1000 Corpses, The Devils Rejects, Halloween, etc.], 10 Things I Hate About You, and A Walk To Remember!

The Notebook is a great movie, the way it was made was creative and it was the saddest thing I have ever watched :/ it gets me everytime.

Stereotypes can sometimes prevent men and women from watching good films. As such, I don't think there is anything wrong with girls watching action movies or guys watching touching movies (or "chick flicks").

I am not ashamed to admit that I have cried profusely after watching "Big Fish" and "Shadowlands".

Take care,

Darrin

oh yeh, whats the last film you all saw? the last film i saw that i Hadn't seen before, was District 9 (which was very good i must say, although the ending kind of turned a little too Hollywood compared to the early parts of the film)

my favorites are [no particular order]

Once Upon A Time In The West
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Alien
Aliens
Terminator 1 & 2
Psycho
Vertigo
The Shawshank Redemption
No Country For Old Men
Leon
Apocalypse Now
The Godfather
The Usual Suspects
Se7en
Momento
Fight Club
Reservoir Dogs
Full Metal Jacket
Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
12 Angry Men

theres alot of films i like allmost as much as these, but these ones will allways be films i'll watch many times.

my favorite thing thats been on tv was Band of Brothers

i also agree, stereotypes on films really can stop people of different sex's seeing some very good films, but unfortunately some of these stereotypes really rain true.

personally, im not put off watching romances or any particular genre except comedy, because comedy is a genre of film that usually offers me nothing of what i really want out of a film, (i still enjoy them though, particularly with a friend or when im not watching it by my self)

the main things i look for in a film is an engaging story or plot, or deep characters or plots, twists, revealings, anything that isn't shallow or superficial. otherwise its got to be classic in other ways, like action scenes, or innovative (e.g. alien/terminator)

my favorite film scene of all time was because the film actually did have something deep to reveal in the story, and the revealing was really vivid in terms of being shocking (or atleast it was for me, the most memorable film scene i'll probably ever find!)

glad people like talking about films here

i'll check out the note book sometime, quite a a few films listed so far that i ain't heard of or seen lol, particularly harmony and emetophobic male.

Let's see, the last film I saw at the theater was The Time Traveler's Wife. Maybe not that great, but I enjoyed it because I also loved the book. Last night we watched Catch me if you Can on TV. That's pretty good, too, and based on a true story!

Darrin, I think we have similar tastes! I LOVE Spinal Tap and the British version of The Office! Kyle, I love Shawshank, Reservoir Dogs and Fight Club as well. I just can't take too much gore.

I have heard that the easiest film to get a man to cry is "legends of the fall." I haven't seen it, but I hear that there is something about it that makes it quite a "tear jerker" for guys.

I have a certain affinity for British comedy, as some of you may have noticed with my movie list I posted in my previous post.

Take care,

Darrin

i forgot to mention in my last post that i love the office too, iv only seen the english one, i haven't actually seen series 2 yet either, iv only watched series 1.

wouldn't mind checking out the american version.

i was into lost but i kind of gave up on it by season 4/5

p.s. i feel ashamed to say so (i have seen a few episodes of it) but i have not seen the soprano's, i think im missing out.. either way im gonna buy the series on dvd! lol or just rent it.

anyone here tried renting with lovefilm (uk) ?

harmony, i don't mind gore, im not a particular fan of it my self, my main complaint with gore is films over use it like they can't think of anything better. gore is not scary is just disgust. i think gore is only effective in films if its few and far apart from each other in the film.

Hi EJB. I do like Extras! But I have only seen season 1. But I especially like the "Ben Stiller" episode.

I liked it when ben stiller was proclaiming to the crowd that "it still counts" as a real kiss to be kissed by a woman during a scripted play or movie.

hmm thats odd re the packaging. you should just take one side off when u get the dvd and then it turns into the return envelope - just need to seal the top. pleased your enjoying the Sopranos, we loved it! there is a horrid v* scene tho about season 3 (i think) - if you are really bothered by v* on tv then let me know and ill find out which episode. it really really scared me and set me off in a right panic there are a few v* incidents thro the series but dont let it put u off. oh and tony gets food poisoning at some point - again, i dont think season one but let me know if your bothered and ill try and find out when its coming up - lol excuse the pun!

Kate, you reminded me of the Inbetweeners! i loved that too!

whats all this with the Notebook - im going to have to get it on lovefilm i think!

we watched 50 dead men walking last night. i really liked it. it is about the IRA and a guy working for the british police undercover. its a true story. really interesting subject matter.
