Well, I finally have a dental appointment for this afternoon. My mom says they'll take x-rays and probably give me penicllan before they do any work. I've taken other antibiotics but it seems like I've heard really bad things about this one. I looked up the side effects and they are really bad: upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. And some you're not supposed to take with food. Has anyone taken this? I feel so horrible and I need to get better, but I feel really weak and don't want to take anything that's going to make me sicker!

You should take them, the chance of you v*ing is like 1 to a thousand. But they have to list every single side effect that has ever happened to anyone because they don't want people saying "Hey those pills made me think I should claw my eyes out and I did, you never told me that would happen!" or whatever. so yes, take the antibiotics I've had them loads and have never been ill from them.

Thanks! I don't have to worry about this now, though. I went and didn't get anything prescribed for me, just found out that I can't afford a root canal and I didn't get approved for credit. Now I have to figure out what to do, I really don't want to get it pulled, I'm rather vain and would never smile again! But I have to get out of this toothache agony!

I never had any adverse reaction to penicillin. Have you had it before? Watch out for allergic reaction syptoms, it is more common to be allergic to penicillin than to get sick from it. Don't want to scared you, but it can happen, be aware. To avoid being sick with any medication it is best to take it with food or milk (unless advised to take on an empty stomach) it really makes a big difference.

    Good luck!

P.S....root canal are so expensive!! My mom has about 4 uncompleted b/c she casn't afford the crowns!

I know u havent been prescribed anything. But i had penicillin for the infection in my thumb and i had to have it on an empty stomach and an hour before food. It didnt give me any side affects whatsoever!

I am allergic to penicillin. I had a bad reaction when I was about three. But I do not think that it is likely you would be or it would have been picked up by now. Even though you do not need it now.
