Do you prefer cats or dogs and why?

I am definitely a cat person! I have two and I love them so much! I love that when they want to go for a walk, they take one themselves, and when they come back it's because they love you and not because you've tied a piece of string round their neck. AndI love that you have to earn their resect and loyalty, instead of getting it from a dog automatically however you act. And they can pick up on emotions too, they can tell when you're sad and happy and stuff. and they're intelligent, Ollie always knows when it's time to eat and he reminds us! Please post the reasons for your preference.

I can say that when I was about three years old I was run over by a dog. I know it sounds funny, but I wasn't injured just stunned, so I found that cats couldn't stun me that way. Plus, in my experience (limited by the above), I've found cats to be more calm and loving!

i adore cats. they're intelligent, affectionate, lively and super super clean!
i also love dogs, but they don't feel the same as cats.. cats are more independant and can suit themselves.
Mine takes walks with me, he'll mew until i return from wherever iv been, and he seems to be on my wavelength ( strangely enough )

I had to vote for dogs. I have two, and just love their personalities. I also have a cat, so I love them too, but I always grew up with dogs and am more used to dogs. I love all animals actually, and just thinking about animals makes me happy!

I prefer dogs..but i do love cats as well.


I like the unconditional love a dog offers...i like their personalities...i like their trainability...im just a dog kinda girl..


but i also love most other animals too!!


we have a fish..a cat..a dog..two bunnies..and three rats right now..if i could have more in my tiny house i would in a heartbeat!!!

Cats. I Love the fact you never really own a cat as mostly it does as it pleases, I love that they are so independent and I love my little kitty shes so cute!!!! And very smart sometimes. cats are perfect for me as they dont require the same attention a dog does but they are very peaceful and curling up with my cat on the sofa makes me feel better.

I hate cats, except my own. He's diabetic and I have to give him insulin twice a day. I LOVE dogs.

I really like both, but I must say I prefer dogs I have a little doggy, he's 14 1/2 years old, and he's the sweetest little thing. Dogs are just really trusting and friendly. Some cats are to, but almost all dogs are like that.

I chose neither because I love dogs because they are just so sweet and adorable. I love cats cos they have attitude and so many different personalities. I just love animals...period! They are so much better than people.

I really love both of them, but because I have a cat, they get my vote. Although they are sick EVERYWHERE, I dont really mind cat v*, so thats ok. But they always know what you are feeling, and curl up with you, and are loyal but not so loyal that you just kind of want them to go away. I also love horses equally, and ride them all the time!

I have had a dog and loved her so much and someday I want to get another dog but cats are my favorite!


My husband and I are both cat lovers and both grew up with cats in the house and no dogs. I guess we were raised to own cats too. We have 5 cats and I think they are great because they are never crying to out (they are all indoor kitties), they rarely have accidents, they don't need walks, they rarely eat anything they shouldn't, when I got out of town I can leave an extra food bowl and not have to worry, they are independant, and between the 5 of them I can always get at least one to give me love and let me pet them at any given time.

I love both soo much...I'm such an animal person...but I voted for dogs.


I find dogs more affectionate and that you can communicate with them and have more of an 'human-ish' realationship. So I prefer dogs. But I love cats too!

My dog loves me so much. He is so loyal and cuddly. I feel that cats are too independent for me. I think they are more affectionate in most cases and more friendly.

I love both... I love cats because they are independent, cuddly, and frisky. I love dogs because they are loyal, have great personalities, and they are so people oriented. That puts them above cats for me. I have a cat though haha...

My doggy had to be put down earlier this year, she was 15! Id had her longer than id had my sister lol!!! I tried to get nother dog but she was a bit wacky and wen a bit mad and had to be taken to thi special home [img]smileys/smilies_12.gif[/img]hmmm that put me off getin another dog so i got a cat and a hamster lol! But i woul still rather have a dog, they are so friendly. My mums cat gives everyone the evils when they look at him! Mind u, my cat is sooo funny. He purrs if u just look at him lol!

I voted for cats. I adopteda (1yr. old black cat ) from the animal shelter last year. It was one of the best things I ever did (for myself and for him). I rescued him and he repays me every day with his love and loyality. [img]smileys/smilies_04.gif[/img]He's so affectionate...my "Alfie"....(my Boo-Boo Kitty!) I didn't vote b/c I like them both. I used to like just dogs (my parents have two weiner dogs), but now we have two cats that act like dogs. I love them to death.

I voted for cats! I really don't like dogs. I hate the smell, cold wet nose, and the worst--when they come up to kiss you right after they drank out of the water bowl and get their slobber all over you! Yuck!!!!


My husband is a dog person though, so I let him get a dog. She drives me nuts, so when I'm home alone, she stays outside in the backyard and runs around, so I don't have to deal with her. I have 2 cats--one's a 3 month old kitten. He is the nicest cat I've ever had. I love him to pieces!
