I was wondering what you do when someone in your household v...?? I plug my ears, and have a major anxiety attack. What about when you see v.... on the sidewalk outside? Does that ruin your whole day? It does mine. Do any of you get panic attacks during these times? Or even other times? Thanks again, Charlotte

I hate seeing people, who get sick. I hate these noises etc.Sometimes I feel a little panic. But I canbear that. I could live with the fear of other people being sick, but I canīt live with the fear myself could being sick .

I can flee if someone get sick, but i canīt do this if I feel nausea. Thatīs the problem!

Jenny, I feel the same way. I dread feeling sick and hate the fact that you can't do anything about it. I guess that is why I hate hearing others do it because it scares me, because I might catch it, or have to see it somehow. I hate the feeling of nausea.I feel your pain.Charlotte

Charlotte, what is , if youīll see someone vomit who is drunk? Is there a difference, because you know you canīt catch a stomach flu or anything else?

I am sorry, but I hate drunk people so much. I am afraid of drunk people. My exboyfriend vomited nearly each weekend, the 2 years, we were in a relationship, only he got drunk. And that was horrible.

If I hear someone vomit, i feel this choking feeling in my throat and only think " Oh God, how awful, I donīt want to vomit." I also along- suffer with the person who vomit then....

I wanted to add my 2 cents and say that I also hate being around drunk
people. My social life kind of suffers because I'm 22 and drinking
seems to be the only thing people my age ever want to do, but it's
worth having a few less friends to be able to better deal with the
phobia. It doesn't matter that I know they're sick from alcohol, it
bothers me just the same. I haven't been to a party in years.

I still get bothered even if it isa drunk person getting sick. I avoid them just as I would anyone thatis contageous.I hate it horribly. I feel a bit better knowing that a person is not contageous...but I still can't stand to be around anyone who has gotten sick or is getting sick for ANY reason. If someone I live with gets sick I slow down on eating so I don't have anything to v in case I get it (if it's contageous) and I stay awake LATE because I get scared to go to sleep, for fear I may wake up sick. Heck, it's after 3am now, and I am still up. This is an every night ritual. Charlotte

I hate hate hate other ppl being sick yuk. I especially hate drunk ppl, they are the worst cos they dont care where they are sick. My phobia stems from seeing my boyfriend vomit after he drank too much.

I hate drunk people too...they make me really nervous because they don't have a lot of control over themselves and they just throw up in the street, etc. Having said that, if I go out in the evening and have a few drinks myself then I feel much more relaxed about other people and I generally have a good time without worrying about other people. I can even sit in the loo if someone is being sick in there, I think a lot of that is because I know I won't catch it myself. Seeing sick in the street doesn't bother me but seeing someone being sick makes me panic, but I just look (or walk) away and it doesn't really spoil my day, if it was someone I was with then it would spoil my day because I can't escape it, same as if I felt sick myself really.

If my boyfriend is sick at home then I go to the lounge and put the TV on (loud) take deep breaths until the panic subsides and then avoid him until he is better. I'll sleep in the lounge with the lights on and the TV on. If we go out together for a few drinks I often sleep there anyway, even though he is never sick from alcohol, just because I am so scared that he might be. I am much more afraid of people in my family being drunk and sick than people I don't know... wierd...

Talking of drunks brings to my mind how I was when I used to imbibe(frequently!) in my youth.Always had the phobia but it never seemed too bad till I had my first child.Anyway.....I can remember that when I was half-cut *V just didn't bother me at all.I used to hold my friends hair and stroke her back for her, there's so much more I could tell you but I fear it would freak everyone out! LOL

Just thought it was interesting how, when your mental perception is impaired, your phobia is too.

It's certainly true for me ... I don't get motion sickness when I've had alcohol either! Sounds like there's only one thing for it.... if only you didn't feel so s* after you've over indulged !!

I HATE DRUNK PEOPLE TOO! THEY MAKE ME SO NERVOUS... THE REASON MOSTLY BEING BECAUSE THEY ARE SO UNPREDICTABLE! THEY HARDLY EVER KNOW WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO BE SICK... AND WHEN THEY DO, THEY THINK ITS SO FUNNY! ARG.
