    Default Contaminated?

I made chicken breast and used a fork to turn around the raw chicken. Unfortunately I used the same fork on the chicken once it came out thr oven to cut it up and now I'm worried about salmonella poisoning thr reason I ate it is I presumed that thr heat of the chicken wud be enough to kill anything that was on thr contaminated fork. Should I be worried? Please answer asap as I've just had food and don't want to sit here in anxiety

    Hi

no I didn't. If I did I wouldn't be worried. In worried that I used the fork on raw chicken but then unwashed used it on the cooked chicken. But I'm hoping the heat of the cooled chicken would have killed any bacteria. I didn't use that same fork to eat with though.

Hopefully you're right, and the heat killed any bacteria still on the fork. My dad says not all raw meat is contaminated, so hopefully you'll be fine!

I highly doubt it will be a problem. You should be perfectly fine.

I don't think there would have been enough bacteria on the fork just from turning the chicken around to cause a problem, but for this reason i always sling anything that's touched something raw straight in the sink.

I always wonder about this type of thing with barbecues, people use the same tongs on the food that is raw to start with then to turn it while it cooks and then to take it off when it's cooked but the tongs aren't getting cooked so there must still be raw food bacteria on them? It can't do any harm though can it or else we would all get ill every single time we ate a bbq.

My Mom also said that not every piece of chicken has salmonella - I recently had dinner at my Grandma's and she made chicken that was pink here and there ... not wanting to hurt her feelings, I ate some. I was just fine. And I agree that most people use the same utensils to flip food on the grill, and no one ends up sick. I think you will be just fine!

I actually do that all the time and have never gotten sick from it. I've thought about the possibility, but I'm trying to be better about not obsessing about that stuff.

I would try to relax... I ate steak the other night with my boyfriend and afterward he had a stomach ache (from eating too much) and within five minutes i had myself convinced that we had food poisoning and i was sitting in the bathroom shaking and almost in tears... when he walked in and said he felt fine after 15 minutes i felt fine... so basically if you let yourself think that you're gonna get sick you will. if you relax and tell yourself you're not going to then you should be okay =]
