    Default Anyone Have Acid Reflux?

I had been having severe nausea for over a week now when I finally went to the ER to see what was going on. The weird thing is the nausea only lasted from very early in the morning until late afternoon. I am not pregnant so I found it very odd. I never v* (thank God), but it was debilitating, I could barely move I felt so sick. The ER doctor diagnosed me with 'acid reflux' and she told me that can cause nausea. She gave me Prilosec OTC and some anti nausea medicine. I didn't think someone as young as me, I'm 24 and not at all overweight, could get acid reflux? I've never had problems like this before so it's kind of weird how it just came out of nowhere? Anyone else have acid reflux, and what has your experience with it been?

I have it, it started as a child and I've always been thin. My mom has it too. It took me until I was pregnant and it got much worse to figure it out because it was never heartbrn, I just woke up at night and in the morning with nausea often. It goes away when I drink water and sit upright for an hour or so. I can't eat popcorn ( or anything scratchy), tomato sauce or chocolat before bed. Changing my diet and not eating bedtime snacks helped.

Thank you for sharing. I'm going to have to change my diet, I'm not to excited about that but it's worth it to feel better. The nurse at the ER told me about the 'bland' diet - banana's, toast, and rice. That seems to help.

I find I only have to change my diet in the evening- if I eat spaghetti or chocolate at lunch it's fine but for dinner I just have something easy like steamed veggie/meat/rice and nothing spicy/acidic and nothing after dinner. It's worth it not to feel n* in the morning anymore!
ps... if you do have something bad for dinner because you can't help it sleep propped up with pillows and you'll be less n* when you wake up

Yeah I'm kicking myself now. I had chili tonight (which is like the worst thing you could eat with acid reflux, lol) and now my stomach is pretty upset. I took some nausea medicine but even that is barely helping it. Looks like tonight and the morning are probably going to suck but anyways, is there any good recipes you would recommend to make?

I buy whole chickens and roast them in the slow cooker (great way as well to overcook chicken without drying it out!) and then steam some veggies and make potatoes. The nex night I'll take the meat left on the chicken and make stir fry with veggies and rice. I also buy lean beef roasts (like sirloin or round) and cook those in the slow cooker and then chop up the leftovers and make stew the next day with potato, carrot, frozen peas and whatever other veggies. And some nights I broil fish. Just avoid fatty meats, tomato sauces, spices and dairy in your evening meal. Sometimes if I'm getting bored with my meals I follow around a Chinese person in the grocery store and look at what veggies they are buying then get those and make stir fry with them. I know it sounds bad but they always buy the healthiest food so I copy them when i don't know what to use!

You know what that is helping! I've been drinking a lot of water now with my meals for the past 3 weeks and have noticed a difference
