I'm just wondering if anyone has anything in particular that comforts them, when they're really anxious about throwing up, or just in general. I have two or three things, I guess.

Photography is one. When I was five years old, I got a camera for Christmas. I had been wanting one for ages. It was a purple plastic one, and couldn't have costed more that about ten dollars. Anyways, during the twoish month period I felt continuously sick, in the middle of the night when I felt especially bad, I tookTONS of photos. Imagine a little five year old being that obbsessed...I even started taking photos without film because it was expensive to go through film that fast. Anyways, I still do lots and lots of photography now (http://rhinoseri.deviantart.com)

The other thing was the movie- The Sound of Music. Whenever I got sick, my Mom popped that into the little TV, when I had gotten over the worse of the bug. So once I started watching that, I didn't get sick anymore and it took my mind off getting sick. When it was finished, I usually felt a lot better. So yeah, even though I didn't really get better because of it, it makes me feel a lot better usually.

I also still have my baby-blanket that I sleep with every night. It's more of a thing that just has to be there, or else I'll get nervous, but it doesn't do me much good when I am scared.

So yes, what are your things like that, if you have any?

I totally agree Babydoll!! I have kept a journal since I was 11 or so. And when panick or anxiety sets (or whenever really) I grab my journal and just start writting. It really really helps me and I would reccomend it anyone.

Haha! I have what is left of the blanket my grandma made for me when I was born. Its like a rag now, I tied it in a knot, and it always comforts me. I don't know why. That and my computer.

I have found that reading out loud works best for me. yes..out
loud. It doesn't matter what time it is. If I'm alone, I'll
read to my cat. If it's 2 in the morning, I'll wake up my
boyfriend. All I have to say to him is "Can I read to you?", and
he knows whats wrong. He always says yes and usually falls right
back to sleep as I'm reading. I can read for as long as I
like..right through his snoring..lol. The other thing that works
for me is coloring. I know it's so childish, but it keeps me
concentrating on something else. I also love Court TV..late
night. And of course, the computer. Carrie

LOL its funny the things we do when we get that way....

ive got a lot of weird quirps.

My exboyfirend used to tell me that he noticed i played with my hair
alot and rubbed my neck when i was feeling anxious or nauseaus...and he
was right! i never noticed it before...

usually when im feeling that way in the middle of the night i grab my
sesame street blanket from when i was little, my pillow, my cell phone,
a thermometer, a pack of gum, a bottle of water, and a book and go down
to my basement couch and watch animal planet. its so strange that i
have to bring all those things with me, even if i dont use them.

when i was in school and i would feel that way i would make very
detailed lists or charts or something of the sort....or i would add up
all my hours at work and figure out what my paycheck will be.

wow u all must think im nuts...

*.* you say there is no perfect place, i say i know this is true..im just learning how to smile, thats not easy to do*.*

Hmmmmmm......well, when I get into a ball of nerves, I gnaw on my bottom lip so bad that it bleeds and swells.(and man does it look ugly) Sometimes I pick, pick, pick!!! You name it....I will pick it!...LOL! (well, not my butt and such)But, don't take that advice as constructive things to get your mind off of anxiety. I do those things subconciously.

When I get panicky, I like to put in a movie that I have seen (familiarity) or get on the computer. Sometimes I will write in a journal and it helps tremendously! Charlotte

there are lots of things i do to preoccupy myself when im nauseated..!
i used to have this "thing" about scribbling, and doodling in general, concentrating on somethnig infront of me usually took away the nasty panic that i experience with nausea.
also, i sniff perfume, because the smell makes me think of something clean, and pleasant. - lol- im not weird, honest.
usually, i try to get fresh air, and keep my movement to a minimal
