Just thought you guys would want another update!



Field further stated, "We can only estimate the figures because most cases go unreported." Could it possibly be that the disease isn't worth reporting? News reports talk about wards closing, making it sound like a terrible situation. The reality, though, is that the wards are closed so they can be scrubbed to remove the virus. It's nothing new.
But wait! There isn't a vaccine for it!

But there is, and it's almost ready to be rolled out. LigoCyte Pharmaceuticals is nearly through the testing process for its norovirus vaccine and the marketing has already begun. LigoCyte's Chief Operating Officer will speak at the World Vaccine Congress during its annual meeting in April.

I heard that it was four or five years away from being available....:-(What does "ready for marketing mean"??

it means ready to put it out on the market...ready for the pharm sales people to market it to the drs...

Looks like they're almost done trialing the powder vaccine and are about to apply for a licence to start developing it in injection form. I'm half tempted to email the guy at the bottom of the page to ask when it'll be available as I've read various reports saying anything from a few months to 4-5 years I'm too scared though, in case they reply saying it'll be ages - BAH!

Maybe we'll get a better idea when they make whatever presentation they're talking about to the world vaccine congress. I'm glad some of you guys are following it cause I can be lazy and still informed.

Does anyone know if children will be able to take the powdered form of the vaccine? I mean,is it for kids too?? I have a 2 and 4 year old and it seems like it would be difficult for them to inhale a powder like that...But i want them to be able to get this vaccine soooo bad!! By the way,....sorry if i seem a little obsessed with this but,......i am.:-(

Sounds like we are all holding on to the same information. Stuff we read on Ligocytes website and from somebody who emailed one of the Dr.s for this company and said it would be 4 or 5 years and the vaccine conference that occurred last month. I believe we r all obsessed with this topic or we wouldn't be a member of this site. I have small children too; 5,3, & 1. I probably shouldn't have had children cuz I think I'm going to turn them looney like me as much as I make them wash their hands and not touch anything. I feel that when this vaccine comes out, I can start living again. We will b able to go to Disneyland etc. I'm a healthcare worker, which probably makes it worse, and from what I understand, the powder will be put in a liquid and probably be a mist. Maybe not, but that makes more sense cuz I was thinking when the vaccine finally came out, it will be given to children first. I want to know why they don't get the powder out to market before the live vaccine goes through all it's trials? Anyone? I have emailed one of the Dr.s at that company and he just said "as you know, it takes a long time to make a vaccine". That was 2 years ago and I emailed this year but never heard anything. I hate getting my hopes up that it will be this year and then find out it's going to be another 4 years. I too heard somewhere, some article online, that said this year we will have a vaccine. May thru September I'm a little more relaxed but once it gets colder out, I don't like my kids to be around anyone.
