Anyone get nervous around this time of the year what with people going out for parties and getting really drunk and v'ing all over the place. I dread it. I feel scared to go out at the moment, even more than usual, cause everywhere I go it is there. Every year for the last 2 years since I have lived in this house someone has v'd on the pavement or in the road around Christmas time. Should I assume/prepare myself for it happening again this year? Our house is situated near two pubs and people use our road as a cut through. Why is everything ruined by v and this awful phobia. I really want it to end.

hey claire, i know how you feel! perhaps it's sensible to prepare yourself..just in case, but remember; even though the sight of someone's dinner on your pavement is far from pleasant..you'll know why it got there. ie) alcohol
whatever you do, don't panic about this..whoever left you a charming pile of it will surely be suffering on new years day..!
perhaps you could spend new years eve somewhere else this year? Just so that you feel more secure about going out the following morning..

EWW, it must be awful living near a pub, poor
girl. Doesn't it just ruin the whole day seeing something so
disgusting.

My husband's Christmas party is on one of those paddle wheel boats. He
said he didn't want to go because if the party sucked he wanted to be
able to leave. I was happy he declined..WOHOO!!

Little did HE know that I didn't want to go because I didn't want to be
trapped on a floating, seasick, party boat. What if someone
didn't v* from being drunk, but being seasick..

NO, not me! But we will be attending a party for the landlubber kind

For me, it doesnt matter if its caused by a virus, too
much drinking, seasickness, morning sickness, etc... if it happens,
thats it for me. People have tried reassuring me if someone gets sick
from drinking or food poisoning you cant catch it. Well thanks for
meaning well but... for me it doesnt matter! If someone v's around me,
thats it. Oh and yeah I hate this time of year too for that reason. I
just hope the Norwalk bug stays far far away from here.

Hi Claire

I feel the same way. I don't like winter or spring time at all. While I was driving yesterday I heard constantly on the news about 2 hospitals I think, in Toronto where the Norwalk Virus is spreading and they have contained in one of the hospitals, and of course they say all the symptoms with the nausea, vomiting severe at times, bad stomach cramps, diarrhea and maybe a sore throat, and they would say the best way not to get this virus is to wash your hands after you touch anything and before preparing foods. I would change the station and they were talking about it. I get to where I was going and bang, they had a TV in the office and there it is again. It started to freak me out, I am looking at other people thinking this isn't good could they be getting over this or whatever. I used the bathroom carefully not touching anything, using my foot to flush paper towels for the taps, another paper towel to dry my hands and paper towel to open the door. It isn't fun at all. At least while it is cold outside you can wear gloves and where them in a store so you don't look like a fool! I am a nervous ninny from Oct till about the end of May. I just worry a lot about my son getting a virus from school. I know the day will come that he will have the flu, and I am not looking forward to it all. Just use good sanitation and you will be fine!
