    Default I was told

I wasn't going to get wisdom teeth by my orthodontics. I was in 4th grade when this happpened... I got my braces, and then I got the off in 7th grade still no sign of my wisdom teeth and they were perfect except I didnt wear my retainer and bottom teeth got screwed up again but not my top teeth still perfect. Just a few months ago I went to the dentist cause I had a infected tooth by the way I'm 24 now... they did x-rays of the tooth and found that I had wisdom teeth but they still hadn't come in and I told them that my orthdontincs said they weren't comng in and you could tell the Dr. was curious about it... Since then it's been about a few month and my one of my teeth has been hurting me, so I checked and all the way in the back of my teeth I feel a tooth coming in and obviously it's one of my wisdom tooth, and on the other side Im feeling pain also and I feel a tooth poking through also..... I'm so pissed off I was told I would never get wisdom teeth . I feel them growing through my gum and honestly I don't want them to screw up my teeth... And now I'm scared it going to screw with my already good teeth, and it's also painful. I'm so disappointed in this I really thought I'd be lucky and not get them but Im 24 now and obviously that isn't the case like the doctor told me and I didn't listen cause I was told I would be fine and not get them... so I feel like my mom wasted all that money on my teeth just so they can be screwed up from these stupid wisdom teeth, and no doubt they are coming in cause I touch them and can feel them... I have no clue what I shoul do?? any suggestions?? I just think it's so unfair now since Im 24 and just getting them now and was told I was never going to get them.

They won't necessarily cause your other teeth to get messed up, they will cause them to push together though and that will be very painful, especially if you have a small mouth. Can you check into them getting pulled before anything happens? I had mine pulled last year before they fully came in and it wasn't to bad. I hope it works out

P.S. It's great to hear you don't take for granted having had braces, my parents could not afford them when we were little and I'm looking into getting invisalign now and I'm also 24

My regular dentist told me that I didn't need to have mine out either... but I had them out in December. Though mine were straight, I didn't have room for them in my "little jaw". When I was younger, I had a bite plate and headgear, which essentially pushed my entire top jaw back into my skull, and re-aligned some teeth. If I hadn't gotten my wisdom teeth out, all of that work would have been undone.

That being said, your situation seems similar. My advice would be to have them out for a few reasons: a) you don't want to mess up the work that you had done (braces) prior to this, and b) the longer you wait to have them out (older you get), the worse the actual extraction is.

Yeah, I'd just have them extracted. It will be way way way easier than your arm surgery! !!!

Also, I left mine for years (they came in a while ago) and my other never moved when they grew in...my teeth were just as perfect after as they were before....and it's not like I have spacey teeth or anything. It'll be ok

I had my wisdom teeth out in September, and I'll be honest...it was pretty awesome and not like people said. I took about 1/2 percocet about every 2-4 hours and ASK FOR ODANSETRON/ZOFRAN! I got sick about an hour after the surgery because I'd swallowed blood, but I was so out of it, I don't even remember. And if you're not afraid of throwing up yourself, throwing up blood is kind of cool.

As long as you only eat like smoothies and mashed potatoes for a couple days, it's not very bad. The swelling is the most annoying part. You mostly just sit in a drug stupor for a couple days while people wait on you. Then again, my brother had a horrible time but he tried to take the pain meds without zofran and ate like right after.
