    Unhappy Psychology Class

We're currently studying the effects of alcohol on the brain in my psychology class, and we were to be shown a video titled "Binge Drinking." When I found this out, I had the beginnings of a classic panic attack. I asked my instructor if there was any v* in it. He looked at me funny, and said, "I don't think so...." It took every bit of willpower I had to stay in that classroom and try to trust his not-so-confident-sounding answer. The video was fine. We were shown another, which was also fine, but I had to ask again...and I was so embarrassed. Everyone heard me. I just pulled my hood over my head and waited for my face to get un-red.

    Why me?

Don't worry, you might have got a few weird looks but no one really cares. I am wary about what I watch too...you don't want to be in class and have a V scene on the movie then freak out! Is tis a college or HS class? That makes a ton of difference in the maturity level in the people there too. Don't worry, no one will probably remember it tomorrow.

This happens to be all the time. We had to watch a video about WWI once and I had to ask my friend to go and tell the teacher, and she took him out of the room, and when he came back he told me I could leave, so then the rest of the class was looking at me, and now the teacher occasionally makes sarcastic comments at me. The only fortunate thing is I told everybody I had to go and catch up on work because of poor attendance. At the end of the day though, you'd rather ask and be embarrassed, then witness something, hope you feel better now

Its better to be safe than sorry!! I think we have all done things in desperation to prevent seeing something. Its okay, you just need to do whatever you need to do to keep your phobia from getting worse, and to help you live easier with it.

Thanks, folks. I appreciate your understanding. I don't think that anyone will really think anything of it, and after a brief explanation after class, my instructor said that he would be sure to quietly mention if I was at risk for seeing something I don't want to. All is well.

I used to be the same way, I wouldn't even watch a movie unless someone had already seen it to tell me there was no v*. And if I thought it might be coming, I'd run out of the room. Going to university seemed to cure my fear of seeing others do it, though!! I don't care about watching it at all anymore!

I would say it's fine to ask, there is so much going on from day to day, even if someone noticed somethign "funny" they'd froget about it and move on to an easier target quickly!

I would have done the same thing! I'm currently taking a summer Psychology course and I'm praying we don't have to watch any videos like that. I'm glad you were able to be brave and make it through the flim, even though you did have to ask multiple times!
