One of my flat mates is sick, i dont know what is wrong with her but she has V*. Her friend is with her and they have phoned NHS direct and they want to send an ambulance or at least get the emergency doctor. Surely they wouldnt do this if it was a bug. apparently she has severe pains above where her stomach is and when the pain gets really bad she cant breathe properly, her friend says she thinks she made herself sick cos of the pain, do these sound like stomach bug symptoms, she made herslef chicken earlier, about 5 hours ago i guess, could it be food poisoning

i am so scared that it is going to be something i might catch, i just want to cry at the moment, i can feel a panic attack coming which is bad because i has asthma too and i dont want to have an attack. my bf is 300 miles away and he normally helps when i feel like this. i feel so alone and am scared. what if i have an attack or get sick and im alone.

please help im so scared and i dont know what to do

I'm with you... I would be doing the same thing. What always helps me in this situation is to take a walk. I don't know if this would be a possibility for you, but getting away, being outside, being with my dogs, it always helps.

Could it be her appendix? That's always a possibility. To be honest, it really doesn't sound like she's got a virus, esp. if she made herself sick from the pain.

My therapist told me how to get out of a panic attack, and it's basically measured breathing, and getting yourself to a safe, calm place in your mind, like the beach, or in front of a fireplace, whatever is relaxing to you. I've never done it to get out of a panic attack, only to relax.

    I hope you're doing ok.

Aww hunn try to calm down and not worry. It doesn't sound at all like a stomach bug, and I'm almost positive that whatever it is you won't catch it.

My cousin experienced something that I could swear was exactly like this, and it was that his appendix burst! And some people (alot of ppl actually!) tend to v* from EXTREME pain, and if its her appendix, she would be in extreme pain!

So try to calm down, she will get the helps she needs, seeing an emeregency doctor would be a very good idea, but as for you, distract yourself. Try taking deep breaths while you play a game on the internet or watch some tv.

    Hope everything's better soon!!

    Hi

thanks for your replies. I am terrible, i had to find out what was wrong with her so went to chat to her and so if it is anything contagious im not at more risk. Im so strange sometimes. Apparently she made herself sick cos of the pain and is fine now, and has now gone out clubbing lol. Im still a little anxious but getting better, been talking to one of my other flat mates to calm down

I'm the same way, I have to know what is going on. I feel more in control that way and can make my own decisions about what to do, rather than be in the dark about things and wonder. I think that creates more worry, so I totally get why you went to see her. She went clubbing!? Why can't we be like that????????????

If she's out clubbing then it's definitely not a virus (or she's crazy)
It might even have been bad gas that was causing her pains, because
I know I've gotten pains that were so bad I thought my appendix was
rupturing and they made me feel ill too. I don't think you have
anything to worry about, and I hope you're feeling better now.

    Nicki...

Not to scare anyone, it doesn't sound like a virus, but anytime you have extreme or sudden abdominal pain especiallybad enough that it causes you to vomit and then it just goes away, even if your friend thinks it's nothing, she needs to go get checked out by a doctor.

You see, a good friend of mine had been having such symptoms as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, etc... for a few hours and it stopped just as suddenly as it started. Several days later she became extremely ill and went to the doctor to find that her appendix had ruptured spreading poisons and toxins through her abdomen. It made her VERY sick, more sick than a person who simply has appendicitis and landed her in the hospital for some time. The appendix is simply not something to play around with. Chances are she's fine and it's nothing but a cramp, but it's far better to be safe than it is to be sorry.

Wow, that is terrible what you went through!I can't believe she went out after that!! I wonder if her chicken was bad?? But not matter what the case is, it does not sound like a virus. If that is the way stomach viruses feel, us emets would be on all 4's, clawed to the ceilings!!!

Hope you have calmed down and you can now relax! I agree though...she should go see a doctor.
