I thought there was some great info on there as far as stats on emets. The part about how emets have become masters of controlling the urge to v and not giving into nausea by controlling their breathing is really interesting.
I once got food poisoned about a year ago. Or maybe just some ingredient didn't agree with me. But that was the most excruciating nausea I ever had. My stomach was desperately trying to rid itself of whatever was in me. I laid still on the floor in the bathroom and took shallow breaths. My mouth was watering like crazy. I kept a trash bin next to me not only to v if I couldn't stop it, but to also keep spitting into as I was salivating like crazy. I would sometimes squirm in agony as my stomach went through convulsions. After my stomach kept trying to purge for a good hour an half or so with no success, I guess it just gave up and decided to send everything out the other direction and I had projectile diarrhea for a couple hours.
I'm sure 99% of people would've V if they went through what I experienced there, maybe even many emets. I just couldn't bring myself to let it happen. Even though in my mind all along I was saying, "Ok, looks like this is it, it's finally going to happen today after all this time. Stay calm, stay calm...not the end of the world."
I've promised myself that if/when it does happen, not matter how awful I feel physically, I'm going to look into the mirror, give a big grin and say, "you got through it!"
