Default Alcohol can be good for your stomach

I know there's a good number of emets that fear alcohol due to the consequences of binge drinking. However, I've found that a little bit of alcohol actually makes my stomach feel good. Some alcohols are even known as "digestifs" meaning they are known to aid in digestion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ap%C3%A9ritif_and_digestif

Lately I've been drinking tequila straight, just in small sips and in small portion. It makes a nice warming sensation on the stomach that can feel pleasant. I don't even drink enough to get a buzz from it or to get sick. Red wine also tends to settle my stomach if things are feeling unsettled. It could also be that so much of emet's stomach issues are anxiety-caused, that the alcohol is calming your nerves thus calming your stomach by extension.

It may not be everyone's thing, but it's another natural solution to consider. And btw, I very rarely get drunk. I will drink to get a mild buzz, but I haven't had a hangover in quite a long time. I really can't stand binge-drinking and seeing people pound shot after shot. I don't know why but in the English-speaking world(US, UK, Ireland, Australia for example), binge drinking is quite popular. In S. Europe or much of Latin America, you don't really see that. People have a classier attitude toward their drinks/wine and acting stupid and rowdy getting puke drunk from alcohol is frowned upon.

australia is huge for binge drinking. you go out and pretty much everyone does it. mainly the people who just turned 18 and a bit older. when i turned 18 i used to go out every weekend (but i never drank) and there would be someone in the bathroom v* every single time or there would be some on the floor or near the sink. its very unattractive and hard to go out
No passion so effectively robs the mind of all its powers of acting and reasoning as fear.

makes sense that alcohol would lessen anxiety........but i still think i will avoid it all together.........would just be one more thing to be dependent on......

I never have, nor will I ever, drink to get drunk. But I do enjoy a glass of wine with dinner.... it also helps settle my stomach if I'm feeling a little off. So I agree with mookie that a litte is good - a lot isn't.

I heard on a TV show called 'The Doctors' that beer is good for you in extreme moderation. I can't remember what they said it's good for....but they said it! Too bad, cause I hate the taste of beer. Tastes like what a skunk would tast like. :P

I tend to avoid alcohol. Once in a while I have a drink of wine, but I don't drink beer or any kind of hard liquor.

I'm aware of that "Warming" sensation in my stomach. That "warming" sensation to me slowly turns into burning, even if I eat before I drink. Yuck.

    I hate alcohol.

It says in the bible that wine helps the stomach. I can't remember where or how it's said, but it does. Interesting! Gives me a headache though.
