I want to start this off by saying that I in no way mean to offend anyone, this is just my opinion. I don't dislike anyone either, and this isn't directed at anyone in particular. It's just a piece to make you think.
I feel that there are 3 major kinds of emets. No I'm not talking about they triggers of fear, but I'm talking about how we actually react to our emetophobia.
The Recovered Emet
We are fortunate enough to have a few recovered emets on our forums. These people have gone through the lowest lows and understand our deepest fears. They come back to help us pull through the hard times, and to give us hope that there really is a chance of living phobia free. They want everyone to know it's possible to get over your fears, and they want to help us achieve it.
The Recovering Emet
We have lots of these on here too! These are people who are consciously trying to overcome their phobia. Whether it's by going to therapy, trying at home methods, or just not quite relying on the anti emetics as much, these people are doing their best to overcome their fear. They like to post and let people know when they've made a step forward, giving others hope that they can do it too.
The Satisfied Emet
These are the people who hate their phobia, but aren't doing anything to help themselves get better. We have these on our site as well. These are the people who are at their lowest low, or damn close, and either feel like nothing will help, or have no desire to overcome their fears. They tend to post about their roughest times and not really much else. They have accepted their fear as a part of their daily routine.
Any thoughts, ideas, opinions? What other groups of Emets do you think we have? Or do you think these don't apply? I would love some healthy discussion here![]()
