    Default Sugar Hangover?

Is it possible to have a sugar hangover?

I don't eat a lot of sugar but sometimes I'll over-indulge, and I've noticed that if I have a day where I don't eat healthy and I eat mostly sugar-based foods, even if it's not a large amount, I spend the next day feeling like I'm hung over. Not just nauseous but with a general feeling of "sick" all over, almost like the beginning of a flu.

So I wonder if I'm having a sugar hangover or if it's coincidence.

Yes, I do get this, esp if I'm under-rested. For me it often comes with a headache and feeling sick to the stomach. Only thing I can do is go to sleep at that point and I'll usually feel fine when I wake up.

Yep, a sugar hangover is possible, I think it happens because the sugar spikes your blood sugar, your body has to fight to bring it down, your blood sugar goes too low and meanwhile you are pumping more sugar in your body. I think sugar can also dehydrate you which won't help matters.

Yes, it can. My body was addicted to caffeine, but I also would drink a soda and get SO nauseous. Even though I'm not a diabetic, it spiked my blood sugar. I felt like crap for days. Less junk food for me.
