    Default car sick toddler

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum... My therapist actually suggested I go online in search of a forum. I have been living with emetophobia for as long as I can remember... I don't care what people say about "well if you just throw up you'll be over it"... NO I threw up once when I was pregnant because of something the baby apparently didn't like... was fine afterwards and felt awesome like I conquered the world... next morning, was back to worrying... anyway, my reason for writing... my daughter gets car sick... never can tell when or how long it will take for her to feel sick... I also get car sick but because of my fear I don't throw up... she however does... I drive her places, but I am constantly worrying about her getting sick and sometimes my husband will actually drive her places and I will meet him there... I feel like a horrible mom because I want to be able to take her wherever I go and be with her all of the time and I just feel awful that I have this fear... I just want to be able to pick up and head out whenever and not worry... anyone else dealing with anything similar??

Oh yes! I sure did when I was phobic. I was constantly driving by myself and meeting my husband or other people there. It was crazy and inconvenient too!

That's great you're getting therapy though. Your whole life will turn around. Keep up the good work!

Yeah i have an 8 year old who gets car sick i hate getting in the car with her BUT in saying that we brought her one of those bands and (touchwood) she has not gotten car sick for ages we told her it would help her not get sick and i think with the positive talk we did about it has helped with the mind over body thing.

As soon as we say get ready to go out she puts it on and hubby also took her on an hour and a half long drive with her sitting in the back and she was fine YAY i am yet to do a longish trip with her but am doing better with the 30mins ones

That's how I am.. I can do the quicker ones, but have trouble with the longer ones... I want to get better so bad, but don't know what to do... when she does get sick, I go into mommy mode and it doesn't bother me at all... i'm fine, mostly because I don't want her t o develop this fear, but the part that gets me is the not knowing if she will get sick or not... it's the control issue I think...

How did you get over this?? Therapy just doesn't seem like it's ever going to help..
