    Exclamation pregnancy/Emetophobia help

Hi, Im new to this site but desperatly seeking advice, i have had emetophobia for 6 years now, its stopping me doing normal things like eating out, going to pubs, cooking meat ect.. just in case im sick. I am due to turn 40yrs old in april and im desperate for a baby but im to scared of morning sickness, i have been pregnant 6 times which have all ended in misscarriage but i had awful morning sickness with them all, its been 7yrs since my last pregnancy and i am desperate to try for a baby but the fear controls me. i have had hypnotherapy for this problem but had to be brought out of it as i paniked half way through while i was under hypnosis because of the phobia, i have had CBT which was no help at all i had that for nearly a year. Please if anyone has any information to help me make my life complete with just one child please please reply

im sorry you had all those misscarriages. there have been lots of emets who have had kids and never v* from the morning sickness. we have very high thresholds to the v* reflex. there are things to help control the sickness like ginger and seabands. im sure there are a few other people on here that can tell you more about their experience with morning sickness. but i know there are ways to cope with it. i really hope you get to have a child. it will be a huge milestone for you if you do. were there things that helped with all the other times you got morning sickness?

    Hi Emma

Thanks for your reply, no nothing worked with the other pregnancys, i tried sea bands. preggie pops, ginger , lemon ect iv tried everything but i just dont know how to control the V, i can deal with N but not V sometimes i dont want to carry on because its ruling my life now, even when husband is V in the night (which is rare) i have to sleep downstairs and make him bleach the toilet in the morning before i use it, then i hold my breath in case i catch what he has had, its really killing me inside

i know its so hard and frustrating. everyday feels like a new burden and marathon. you dealt with all those pregnencies until you misscarriaged im guessing? from stress?? well maybe half the n* your feeling mainly consits of anxiety. if you can stress that much until that happens 6 times in a row, then its got to be causing a lot of n* for you. you need to know that not all pregnancies result in v*. especially with emets. i think 40% of emets dont v* during pregnancy. maybe if you can go see a physcologist to help with controlling your anxiety levels, and in turn, helping your n* each day, it may help you cope better with the morning sickness. still go to hypnotherapy if you think it''ll make a difference but if your desperate for a child then i say keep at it love. you can do it

I am 34 weeks into my third pregnancy and had ZERO morning sickness with each one. It was a STRONG fear of mine through each one but I stuck to eating a lot and drinking a lot of minty and gingery things and I also had my doctor prescribe zofran IN CASE and I think the peace of mind of having those resources kept me strong. I feel great, just fat. LOL

Sounds like you've not had much help from CBT or hypnosis. I know that I also went through 12 therapists before I could find one who was able to help me. And really, now that I look back, I developed the treatment plan myself and he was such a nice guy he just went along with it and it worked. If you want to try again, click on the link to my website - even if you don't want more therapy I have lots of resources and stuff available there to help.

And when you go through another pregnancy you'll find lots of help and support from the other moms here!
    All the best.
