Default Mom said the wrong thing

So, today I woke up with a sore throat and went through the whole day thinking I was coming down with a cold. We went out to dinner to P.F. Changs and I ate everything on my plate and haven't felt full. I actually said to my mom in the car that I felt HUNGRY still (and I still do!) And she said: "Well, don't be shoving food down your throat, so and so told me that she had a really bad stomach flu that starts off as a sore throat and you'll be v* and d* for two days"

o.o I just sat there and looked at her seat and said: "You just said the wrong thing" So I pulled out my phone and was looking at stuff about sore throats and stomach flus and I saw some stuff where people do get cold symptoms before a stomach virus and now I'm scared It's almost been a year since I've v* and I dont wanna go again XDD

Totally not true. The "stomach flu" (norovirus) only attacks the small intestine lining.

Someone who had cold symptoms then got the stomach flu was just unlucky enough to have two different viruses at once.

By the way I LOVE PF Changs. Only been a few times because there isn't one near where I live - but every time was very positive experience!

Oh good, are you positive on that? Because I still haven't eaten after that yet and I'm still hungry xD And I wanted to eat but I didn't wanna get sick! *Goes to nom cookies*

    Thanks so much!

And Yes, PF Changs is awesome we have one about 15 minutes away but we don't go too much cause what I get you can buy frozen at the grocery store and make it at home and it's just as good

Lol cookies! Now I want cookies, too. Last week someone posted about cookies and I had to walk to the hotel lobby and get cookies.

Yep I'm positive on that, you're not going to get the noro from a cold!

Seriously? The frozen stuff at the store is just as good??? I can't believe that because nothing ever is...

Sorry to go off topic, but I totally agree with turbo here.

what turbo said is true and i know that whenever i have a cold, after i eat i still feel hungry as well.i think that happens to alot of people when your sick (with colds)because your digestion starts working differently.and sometimes i hate when ppl tell me abou thier sv sickness because there are many things that can mimic sv.maybe your mom had the reguler flu.some people get the regular flu and v* and some people dont.everyones body works different.whenever my brother has the flu he vomits.i dont.my som vomits when he is sick all the time because he is a baby.your mom could have had a cold and ate somethng bad and had food poisening,u just never know when it comes to those things and reading the internet for symptoms can be even worse because sometimes net information isnt explained properly or is wrong and it freaks you out even more.i know because i sometimes frek myself out with reading mednet.lol

It's totally untrue, like turbo said. You can have a sore throat for a huge number of different reasons and it may not even be the same virus that they had (it certainly isnt a sv*). And even so, people with weak stomachs can end up v* from the flu, but with you being an emetophobe I would think it was highly unlikely anyway. But just remember, eating when you are hungry is not going to make you v*.

    That's terrible! D:
Well, like everyone else said, that isn't true. Just because you have a sore throat, doesn't immediately mean that you're going to obtain a sv. If that were true, I would have had perhaps a million of the nasty buggers.

I had a sore throat yesterday and Tuesday for NO REASON AT ALL, that went away on it's own with no other symptoms at all.

Throats are wiggy, and insanely sensitive. There is NO connection between a sore throat and V*!
