    Default Netflix Recommendations

We already have a thread of movies to not watch due to V scenes, so I thought it would be fun to make a list of movies/TV we love watching. Especially now that Netflix is available in many homes, media is easier to obtain than ever!

Feel free to post movies/TV with V scenes as well, just make sure to put a little note next to the title so people aren't caught off guard!

I'll start with a short list of some of my current Netflix favorites:
    TV
Farscape - Sci Fi (one V episode in season one so far, when the whole screen goes red. It happens 3 times.)
    Doctor Who - Sci Fi

    Movie
The Matrix Series - Sci Fi (one V scene in the first film, right after he wakes up for real)
    Nightmare Before Christmas - Fantasy/Children's
Prayers for Bobby - True Story, and it's a tear jerker
    Pan's Labyrinth - Foreign Fantasy
Tropic Thunder - Super Offensive Action Comedy
Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs - Children's (one V scene after the police officer picks up his son toward the end of the film)

Oh my gosh netflix sucks so much in Canada! It's like any tv show you search for, they say "not available, but you might like Trailer Park Boys season 4!" I miss Netflix so much (I used to live in the States, where it was awesome!)

But, TV shows I like, new and old:
    - 30-Rock
    - The Big Bang Theory
    - Seinfeld
    - Curb you Enthusiasm
    - M*A*S*H
    - Metalocalypse
    - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I'm sure most of them have had v* at one time or another....not really sure.

Farscape has a fair number of v scenes over all. There is one episode where granny (You don't know her yet) gives everyone food poisoning, another that has something to do with sea-shells making people sick. Those have so much v. in those two that my boyfriend didn't even show them to me. He said that they weren't important to the plot and we didn't watch them. Aryn gets sick from an injury in one episode. A bird monster throws up red jello in another episode. Rigel throws up a number of times in the show too, but since he isn't human it doesn't bother me. The ones with Rigel can get pretty graphic sometimes. Four stomachs, good aim...that's all I'm going to say.

It's a GREAT show, and I loved every minute of it, well, almost every minute. The characters were amazing, the story line was wonderful, I'm so excited that my boyfriend got it on DVD. I've seen all of the seasons plus Peacekeeper Wars, and I highly recommended it as a show, BUT if you are very freaked out by seeing v on screen, I'd stay away from it.

Thanks for sharing that info Andrilla! I just got to the first episode of S2, so I had no idea I know I'll probably watch them anyway since I'm so addicted (I'm actually getting my hair cut like Chiana in S1...) but I would hate for somebody to grab a random episode and get one of those!

I feel like I ruined this thread with my Farscape post...so now I'll try to revive it!

    For comedy I recommend:
    *My Fellow Americans (comedy)
*Airplane (Comedy, deals with food poisoning as part of the plot, people feel sick, but no one actually throws up)
*Firefly (sci-fi TV show, the episode "Ariel" has mild v and my boyfriend skipped "The Message" due to v, but then claimed that it wasn't that bad)
    * Serenity (Movie sequel to Firefly, one mild V-scene)
*Farscape, (Sci-fi TV show, but see above note about frequency of v-scenes)
*Peacekeeper Wars (movie sequel to Farscape)
*Bones (murder mystery show, v is never seen on camera, although rarely characters do v. You hear them make sounds, but camera is turned so that the substance is not seen, at least so far)
*CSI (murder mystery show, has a fair amount of V, sometimes very graphic)
*Fringe (sci-fi/fantasy detective show, I don't recall seeing V, but I also have not watched all of it)
*Haven (another sci-fi/fantasy detective show, same note about V as above)

I tend to watch more shows than I do movies, my recommendations reflect this. Also, more likely to have someone throw up in a show than a movie since they last longer.

Oh! and I don't think that M*A*S*H has ever shown V, even in the episode where the entire camp came down with food poisoning. Worst I remember seeing is Hawkeye run to a trash can and then they cut away to Radar looking sad. A medical show with no v!!! Things were different back then, apparently. Sometimes I wish that they hadn't changed.

Aryn was always my favorite, except for Scorpius who you probably haven't met yet. He is the most awesome character around. I just wanted to make sure that you knew what you were getting into because it is not a pleasant surprise! I'd tell you what episodes to avoid, but either the v-scene is so out of the blue that I can't connect it to the episode, or the episode (and in one case even the v-scene) is so important to the plot that it cannot be skipped. The one with the bird-creature actually made me laugh, the produces were so cheap that they just threw jello on the floor and said "DONE!"

V on TV doesn't actually bother me at all anymore, so watching the series shouldn't be too stressful. I have met Scorpius, and I cried like a baby when I thought D'Argo was dead

Sigourney Weaver is in it, though she's the only huge name. You can see the cast here:
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1073510/

I will warn you though, that it revolves around a very religious mother who discovers her son committed suicide because of her intolerance to his homosexuality. It follows the aftermath, how she copes, and what changes in her life. It's a true story, and a huge tear jerker.
