Because emetophobia, like any phobia, is a learned behaviour, it needs to be managed even after one has recovered. Sort of like riding a bike - you can choose to never get on one again but once you know how to ride, you never forget. Similarly, once you know how to have panic attacks and be terrified of vomiting, you'll always be susceptible to setbacks unless you're careful and make a conscious effort to maintain your recovery.
So I think it's important for those of us who are recovered - or well on our way to recovery - or who SERIOUSLY WANT TO recover - have something (like a face-to-face support group) that can serve as a "maintenance program" to help ensure that we don't have a setback and relapse back to being a full-fledged 24/7 emetophobe again.
So I'm putting together such a group in downtown Toronto. If you're interested, let me know. Feel free to PM me.
