Unhappy Afraid to take a nap...this is new.

After I ate Monday I immediately went to take a nap and when I woke up, I discovered I had food poisoning. I got over it just fine in a couple days (I missed school), only a little N* (which Emetrol made go away) and D*, no V*, Thank God. I just finished with my last class and like always I'm extremely sleepy (my neighbors played loud music until 2:30, had to get up for 6:00, Class from 8 am on) however...I'm so afraid to take a nap. I'm guessing this is a learned response?
Umm excuse me emet, this is MY life and YOU don't belong here, back the hell off. <--my new attitude.

Yes you're linking the nap to your food poisoning. Nip it in the bud before this becomes yet another emetophobia avoidance. The nap did not make you sick.

Glad you're all better now and see? You had food poisoning and got through it just fine. The food poisoning is gone, don't let it live on in your fear.

Whatever you do dont avoid taking a nap, it will become a avoidance, i did that with sleeping in my bed, i have to break my habit too!

You're singing my song! Last time I was sick, I took a nap and an hour later I was sick. I haven't napped since then, which was almost 7 months ago! I don't nap because it brings back memories of being sick, so I avoid it. Also, I just don't like that after nap feeling. But that's just me

It'll probably be awhile until I nap again, but I'm sure if you napped it'll be a step forward to recovery

The longer you avoid taking a nap, the harder it will be for you to try to break the superstitions, so I would really recommend you do it now. I have had the same with the side of the bed I sleep on and completely irrelevant things.

Thats the sort of thing that made my normal childhood fear develop into full-blown emet:/
